Kansas City, Mo. -- Week 12 came to a close in MIAA basketball as teams continued to push for spots in the MIAA Tournament.
Missouri Southern at Central Missouri
WBB: UCM 61, MSSU 48
Central Missouri held Missouri Southern to just 15 first half points as they earned a victory on their home floor. UCM shot .520 from the field in the second half as they moved to 8-6 in the league this season.
For the Jennies Revonnia Howard led the way with a double-double as she scored 19 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Shelby Winkelmann was also in double figure with 14 points while dishing out three assists. For the Lions Nicole Hartzog had ten points and a team best two assists. Sharese Jones also had ten points while pulling down a team high nine rebounds.
MBB: #25 UCM 71, MSSU 69
#25 Central Missouri got a jumper with just five seconds left on the clock to defeat Missouri Southern at home. UCM shot .532 from the field as they moved to 10-4 in the MIAA so far this season.
For the Mules TJ White led the way with 19 points while Rakeem Dickerson dished out a game high six assists. Brennen Hughes had 15 points and seven rebounds while Preson Brunz added 12 points. For the Lions Taevaunn Prince had 17 points and a team best five rebounds. Cameron Cornelius had 14 points and Lane Barlow finished with 10 points.
Pittsburg State at Central Oklahoma
WBB: #10 PSU 68, UCO 51
Pittsburg State got 36 points from their bench players as they picked up a win on the road at Central Oklahoma. PSU held UCO to .302 shooting from the field as they moved to 11-2 in the MIAA this season.
For the Gorillas Cathy Bruman and Mikaela Burgess led the way as they each finished with 17 points. Lizzy Jeronimus had 14 points and eight rebounds while Kylie Gafford pulled down a team best nine boards. For the Bronchos Jordan Ward led the way by scoring 15 points. Julia Mason finished with 12 points and Olivia Mason had a team best six rebounds.
MBB: UCO 82, PSU 65
Central Oklahoma scored 48 first half points as they earned a victory at home over Pittsburg State. UCO got 21 points off of turnovers as they moved to 7-7 in the league this season.
For the Bronchos Seth Heckart led the way scoring 15 points and dishing out a game high five assists. Mahlon Jones added 14 points and Phillip Brown had 11 points while on the glass Cal Andrews pulled down five boards. For the Gorillas Devon Branch led the way with 13 points and Trey Starks added 13 points as well. Javis Flynn had six points, three assists and a team best two steals.
Lindenwood at Missouri Western
WBB: MWSU 80, LWU 50
Missouri Western shot .509 from the field as they picked up a win on their home floor over Lindenwood. MWSU got 26 points off of turnovers as they moved to 6-8 in the league this season.
For the Griffons LaQuinta Jefferson led the way as she scored 23 points and dished out a game high six assists. Sarafina Handy added 20 points and on the glass Ariana Novak and Mariah Jordan each pulled down eight boards. For the Lions Kassidy Gengenbacher led the way by scoring ten points on the afternoon. Jenny Rocha dished out five assists and Hannah Blad pulled down a team high five rebounds.
MBB: MWSU 67, LWU 58
Missouri Western held Lindenwood to just 22 first half points as they earned a victory on their home floor. MWSU held LWU to just .345 shooting from the field as they moved 6-8 in the league this season.
The Griffons were led by Cortrez Colbert who scored a game high 23 points while Kevin Thomas had a team best seven rebounds. Cole Clearman finished with 13 points and Dareon Jones added 11 points on the afternoon. For the Lions Cory Arentsen led the way with 16 points and seven rebounds and Chanse Creekmur had 14 points. On the glass Darris Smith had seven boards while dishing out a team high five assists.
Lincoln at Northwest Missouri
WBB: NWMSU 63, LU 59
Northwest Missouri held Lincoln to .328 shooting from the field as they earned a victory at home. NWMSU outrebounded LU 42-34 as they moved to 4-10 in the league so far this season.
For the Bearcats Tanya Meyer had 17 points and Shelby Mustain added 14 points and six rebounds. Tember Schechinger had 12 points and Ariel Easton pulled down a team high seven boards. For the Blue Tigers Hunter Yoakum had 18 points and pulled down a team best eight rebounds. Kelsey Williams and Kate Frazier each added 16 points and Dorian Briggs dished out three assists.
MBB: NWMSU 77, LU 67
Northwest Missouri shot .575 from the field as they earned a victory at home over Lincoln. NWMSU also shot .526 from the three-point line as they moved to 10-4 for the season.
For the Bearcats Conner Crooker led the way with 21 points and a team best six rebounds. Justin Pitts added 18 points and Zach Schneider had 15 points and Matt Wallace dished out four assists. For the Blue Tigers Jeremy Jackson led the way scoring 19 points and Victor Scott finished with 14 points. Joshua Buie had 15 points, six rebounds and dished out five assists.
Emporia State at Fort Hays State
WBB: #3 FHSU 72, #6 ESU 62
#3 Fort Hays State held Emporia State to just 26 first half point as they held on for a victory at home. FHSU held ESU to .318 shooting as they remained unbeaten in league play at 14-0 on the year.
For the Tigers Kate Lehman led the way scoring 17 points and pulling down a team best nine rebounds. Chelsea Mason and Beth Bohuslavsky each had 12 points and Nikola Kacperska added 11 points. For the Lady Hornets Kelsey Barnwell had 17 points and Kelly Moten dished out a team best three assists. Jacee Kramer finished with ten points and on the glass Kathryn Flott and Merissa Quick each had six boards.
MBB: FHSU 73, ESU 66
Fort Hays State erased a three-point halftime deficit as they earned the win at home over Emporia State. FHSU shot .512 from the field as they moved to 8-6 in the league this season.
The Tigers were led by Dom Samac who scored 25 points and pulled down a team best nine rebounds. James Fleming added 16 points and Jeremy Wilson added 12 points on the evening. For the Hornets Terrence Moore led the way with 17 points and Spenser Gales dished out a team high four assists. Jevon Taylor added 11 points and Micah Swank finished with 10 points on the afternoon.
Washburn at Nebraska-Kearney
WBB: WU 84, UNK 67
Washburn put up 45 second half points as they picked up a victory on the road at Nebraska-Kearney. WU shot .532 from the field as they moved to 7-7 in the MIAA this season.
For the Ichabods Taylor Ignoto led the way scoring 25 points as Janelle Travis has 15 points and Jayna Smith added 12 points. Honor Duvall finished with a double-double on the night scoring 18 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. For the Lopers Laramey Lewis finished with 25 points while pulling down six rebounds. Mariam Ridgwell and McKenzie Brown each finished with nine points.
MBB: UNK 85, WU 78
Nebraska-Kearney shot .583 from the field as they defeated Wasburn on their home floor. UNK never trailed in the game as they moved to 9-5 in the MIAA play this season.
For the Lopers Connor Beranek had a double-double scoring 32 points and pulling down 13 rebounds. Ethan Brozek had 16 points and Isaiah McKay added 13 points on the evening. For the Ichabods Algie Key led the way with 25 points, three assists and three steals. Kyle Wiggins had 18 points, Korey Fisher added 15 points and Alex North finished with 12 points and eight rebounds.
