One-point game and buzzer beater highlight the night

Kansas City, Mo. -- Week 12 got off to a wild start in MIAA basketball with a last second shot and a one-point game.

Washburn at Emporia State
WBB: #6 ESU 62, WU 55
#6 Emporia State used a 7-0 run early in the second half to take the lead for good in a victory over Washburn. ESU shot .667 from the three-point line in the second half as they moved to 11-2 in the league this season.
 
For the Lady Hornets Kelly Moten led the way scoring 15 points, pulling down seven rebounds and dishing out three assists. Merissa Quick added 14 points and Addie Lacked finished with 12 points. For the Ichabods Honor Duvall led the way with 17 points and Casyn Buchman added 12 points. Jayna Smith had a double-double scoring 11 points and pulling down 11 boards.
 
MBB: ESU 62, WU 59
After Washburn tied the game with four seconds left Emporia State got a three-pointer with one second to win the game at home. ESU used 12 second chance points to move to 4-9 in the league this season.
 
For the Hornets Jay Temaat scored 14 points and Josh Pederson pulled down a game best nine rebounds. Terrence Moore added 13 points and Micah Swank had 12 points a dished out three assists. For the Ichabods Algie Key led the way scoring a game high 21 points and pulling down six rebounds. Alex North and Kevin House each finished with 10 points as House dished out four assists.
 
Northwest Missouri at Missouri Western
WBB: MWSU 58, NWMSU 37
Missouri Western put up 42 first half points as they picked up a victory at home over Northwest Missouri. MWSU held NWMSU to just 14 first half points as they moved to 5-8 in the league this season.
 
For the Griffons Sarafina Handy led the way scoring a game high 22 points and pulling down five rebounds. On the glass Tiara Hall had eight rebounds on the evening. For the Bearcats Ariel Easton scored 14 points and pulled down five rebounds. Tember Schechinger also pulled down five boards during the game.
 
MBB: NWMSU 59, MWSU 58
Northwest Missouri held Missouri Western off the board for the final 1:38 to escape with a one-point win on the road. NWMSU trailed by four at the half, but came from behind and held on to move to 9-4 in the league this season.
 
For the Bearcats Anthony Woods led the way with 17 points while Matt Wallace dished out a game high six assists. Conner Crooker had 15 points and four rebounds and Grant Cozad had 14 points and pulled down four boards. For the Griffons Cortrez Colbert led the all scorers with 20 points and Kevin Thomas pulled down a team high 10 rebounds. Hans Thun added 10 points and Aaron Emmanuel dished out a team best four assists.
 
Lincoln at Lindenwood
WBB: LU 61, LWU 47
Lincoln forced 25 Lindenwood turnovers as they earned the victory on the road. LU held LWU to just .259 shooting in the second half as they moved to 5-8 in the MIAA this season.
 
For the Blue Tigers Kelsey Williams had a double-double scoring 13 points and pulling down 12 rebounds. Lizzie Nessling had 18 points and pulled down seven rebounds as Williams added seven assists. For the Lions Bri Wilber had 10 points and Kassidy Gengenbacher dished out three assists. On the glass Vanessa Zailo led the way pulling down 15 rebounds.
 
MBB: LWU 83, LU 71
Lindenwood shot .683 from the field as they earned a victory at home over Lincoln. LWU shot .583 from behind the three-point line as they moved to 10-3 in league games this season.
 
For the Lions Sam Mader led the way with 20 points while pulling down five rebounds and Nick Van Osdale dished out five assists. Cory Arentsen and Chanse Creekmur each added 14 points and Darris Smith finished with 13 points. For the Blue Tigers Joshua Buie led all scorers with 31 points while also dishing out four assists. Jeremy Jackson had 18 points and Aaron Spudich added 15 points to a team best five rebounds.
