FHSU women claim at least a share of MIAA regular season title

Kansas City, Mo. – The Fort Hays State women’s basketball team earned at least a share of the MIAA regular season title as week 14 came to a close in MIAA basketball.
 
Southwest Baptist at Central Missouri
WBB: UCM 72, SBU 55
Central Missouri put up 40 first half points on the way to a victory at hoe over Southwest Baptist. UCM got 14 second chance points as they moved to 11-6 in the MIAA this season.
 
For the Jenneis Revonnia Howard had a double-double with 20 points and 13 rebounds while Justin Prairie Chief added a double-double with 11 points and 11 boards. Shelby Winkelmann added 13 points and seven rebounds while Tayler Welks and Jasmine Thompson each added 11 points. For the Bearcats Natalie O’Keefe led the way with 14 points also pulling down four rebounds. Leann Terrill had 13 points and five assists while Ashlee Pitts added 12 points.
 
MBB: UCM 71, SBU 67
Central Missouri shot .563 from the three-point line as they earned a win at home over Southwest Baptist. UCM scored 20 points off of turnovers as they moved to 13-4 in league play this year.
 
For the Mules Kyle Wolf led the way with 23 points while pulling down four rebounds. Preston Brunz added 17 points and TJ White had 10 points while Rakeem Dickerson dished out a team best four assists. For the Bearcats Derrick Stewart had 22 points and Menas Stephens pulled down nine rebounds. Daymond Cowlah had 10 points while dishing out a team best four assists.
 
Central Oklahoma at Northeastern State
WBB: NSU 62, UCO 54
Northeastern State held Central Missouri to 21 first half points as they earned a win at home. NSU held UCO to .298 shooting from the field as they moved to 7-10 in league play this season.
 
For the RiverHawks Kate Bellamy had 13 points and seven rebounds while Fontana Tate led on the glass with nine boards. Bria Pierce had 12 points, Chelsey Beathard had 11 points and Mya Walker finished with 10 points. For the Bronchos Julia Mason led the way scoring 23 points and pulling down nine rebounds. Chelsea Robinson had 13 points and six rebounds while Jordan Ward dished out a team best three assists.
 
MBB: UCO 63, NSU 57
Central Oklahoma got 18 second chance points as they defeated Northeastern State on the road. UCO outrebounded NSU 43-30 as they moved to 10-7 in the league this season.
 
The Bronchos were led by Phillip Brown who had a double-double scoring 13 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Mahlon Jones had 14 points while Cal Andrews scored 13 points and pulled down eight boards. For the RiverHawks Demone Harrison led the way scoring 20 points on the afternoon. Trey Mohair dished out five assists while Dakota Caudill and C.J. Winzer each pulled down six boards.
 
Missouri Western at Northwest Missouri
WBB: MWSU 73, NWMSU 65
Missouri Western shot .490 from the field as they earned a victory on the road at Northwest Missouri. MWSU got 23 bench points and 15 points off of turnovers as they moved to 8-9 in the league.
 
For the Griffons LaQuinta Jefferson led the way scoring 23 points while pulling down rebounds. Sarafina Handy had 17 points and on the glass Mhykeah Baez pulled down a team best nine boards. For the Bearcats Taylor Shull led the way with 16 points and dished out a game high five assists. Ariel Easton had 15 points, Tanya Meyer had 13 points and Tember Schechinger had 12 points and six rebounds.
 
MBB: NWMSU 72, MWSU 54
Northwest Missouri held Missouri Western to just 18 first half points as they earned a win at home. NWMSU shot .542 from the field as they moved to 13-4 in the league this season.
 
For the Bearcats Justin Pitts had 22 points while Matt Wallace dished out a team high six assists. Conner Crooker and Grant Cozad each had 16 points while Cozad pulled down a team best seven boards. For the Griffons Cortrez Colber had 20 points and seven boards while Kevin Thomas added 15 points and nine rebounds. Dareon Jones had 11 points and Aaron Emmanuel dished out six assists on the day.
 
Missouri Southern at Pittsburg State
WBB: MSSU 72, #7 PSU 68 OT
Missouri Southern held #7 Pittsburg State to just .356 shooting for the game as they pulled off the upset win on the road. MSSU made three of four free throws in the final 10 seconds of overtime to move to 12-5 in league play this season.
 
For the Lions Nicole Hartzog had 18 points and nine rebounds while Jordan Dinyer pulled down a game high 14 boards. Camila Lacerda had 14 points and four assists while Sharese Jones finished with 12 points. For the Gorillas Lizzy Jeronimus had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Antqunita Reed had 15 point as well as Cathy Brugman had 11 points and Mikaela Burgess finished with 10 points.
 
MBB: MSSU 66, PSU 63
Missouri Southern forced a turnover with four seconds to play to seal a victory over Pittsburg State on the road. MSSU erased a four-point halftime deficit as they moved to 10-7 in the MIAA this season.
 
For the Lions Taevaunn Prince had a double-double scoring 16 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Cameron Cornelius had a team best 17 points and pulled down six rebounds. For the Gorillas Josiah Gustafson scored a game high 22 points while Javis Flynn dished out a game high seven assists. Devon Branch added 13 points and Trevor Gregory had 11 points and seven rebounds.
 
Lindenwood at Lincoln
WBB: LU 69, LWU 49
Lincoln racked up 26 points off of turnovers as they defeated Lindenwood on their home floor. Lincoln made 20 of 24 free throws as they moved to 7-11 in MIAA play this season.
 
For the Blue Tigers Kayton Cole had 18 points and Lizzie Nessling had a team best seven rebounds. Kate Frazier and Dorian Briggs each had 13 points while Kelsey Williams scored 11 points and dished out six assists. For the Lions Jenny Rocha had 17 points and Vanessa Zailo pulled down eight rebounds. Kassidy Gengenbacher scored 14 points and added six rebounds on the evening.
 
MBB: LWU 77, LU 67
Lindenwood shot .500 from the field in the second half as they picked up a victory at Lincoln. LWU got 20 points from their bench and added 19 points off of turnovers as they moved to 12-6 in the league.
 
For the Lions Darris Smith led the way with 19 points and Cory Arentsen had 16 points and seven rebounds. Sam Mader had 11 points while Gareett Reeg finished with 10 points and five boards. For the Blue Tigers Blake Ralling had 21 points while pulling down a team best seven rebounds. Jeremy Jackson and Joshua Buie had 16 points each while Buie dished out five assists.
 
Emporia State at Washburn
WBB: #13 ESU 73, WU 54
#13 Emporia State shot .515 from the field in the first half as they picked up a victory on the road at Washburn. ESU missed just one free throw in the game as they moved to 14-4 in the league this season.
 
For the Lady Hornets Kelly Moten had 18 points while Merissa Quick added 17 points and six rebounds. Kathryn Flott had 13 points and Addie Lacked added 11 points while Krystie Miller also had six rebounds. For the Ichabods Felisha Gibbs had 13 points and six rebounds while Casyn Buchman dished out a team best four assists. Alsyssa Nikkel finished with 12 points and Jayna Smith pulled down five boards.
 
MBB: WU 79, ESU 54
Washburn shot .551 from the field and .545 from the three-point line as they defeated Emporia State at home. WU scored 19 points off of turnover and added 15 second chance points as they moved to 9-9 in league play.
 
For the Ichabods Kyle Wiggins had 19 points and Alex North pulled down 11 rebounds. Korey Fisher had 10 points and Algie Key and Kevin House each dished out three assists. For the Hornets Terrence Moore had 21 points, pulled down four rebounds and had three steals. Perryonte Smith added 10 points while dishing out two assists on the evening.
 
Fort Hays State at Nebraska-Kearney
WBB: #5 FHSU 81, UNK 71
#5 Fort Hays State wrapped up at least a share of the MIAA regular season title as they won on the road at Nebraska-Kearney. FHSU had 16 points off of turnover and 19 second chance points to go to 16-1 in the league.
 
For the Tigers Kate Lehman had a double-double scoring 26 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Chelsea Mason had 18 points, Beth Bohuslavsky had 16 points and eight assist while Jill Faxon added 11 points. For the Lopers Laramey Lewis had 21 points and seven rebounds to lead the way. Alexa Hogberg had 12 points and seven assists while Amarah Williams pulled down a team best 10 rebounds.
 
MBB: UNK 79, FHSU 59
Nebraska-Kearney shot .500 from the three-point line as they defeated Fort Hays State at home. UNK got 25 points off of turnover as they moved to 11-6 in the MIAA this season.
 
For the Lopers Conner Beranek led the way with a game high 20 points while pulling down eight rebounds and dishing five assists. Trey Lansman added 14 points, Isaiah McKay finished with 12 points and Lane Rohrich had 10 points. For the Tigers James Fleming and Achoki Moikobu each finished in double figures with 12 points. Royce Williams and Drew Kite led the way on the glass pulling down five rebounds while Tomislav Gabric had three assists.
