Kansas City, Mo. -- Mid-week in week 14 is underway as five sets of teams took to the floor in MIAA basketball.
Northeastern State at Pittsburg State
WBB: #7 PSU 84, NSU 48
#7 Pittsburg State shot .580 from the field in the second half as they closed out a win over Northeastern State at home. PSU got 56 total points out of their bench players as they moved to 14-2 in league play this season.
For the Gorillas Lizzy Jeronimus led the way scoring 18 points and pulling down a team best nine rebounds. Cathy Brugman had 17 points while Morgan Westhoff and Mikaela Burgess each finished with 15 points. For the RiverHawks Kate Bellamy led the way with 13 points while on the glass Chelsey Beathard pulled down five rebounds. Bria Pierce and Fontana Tate each finished with 10 points on the evening.
MBB: PSU 87, NSU 73
Pittsburg State shot .578 from the field as they earned a victory at home over Northeastern State. PSU got 35 points out of their bench as they moved to 12-4 in the MIAA this season.
For the Gorillas Josiah Gustafson led the way with a game high 25 points and Conner Kjer pulled down 11 rebounds. Trey Starks had 18 points and Dakota Jones had 11 points while Javis Flynn dished out seven assists. For the RiverHawks Trey Mohair led the way with 12 points and dished out a team best four assists. Demone Harrison and Keon Littleton had 12 points each while Littleton pulled down seven rebounds.
Lincoln at Missouri Western
WBB: MWSU 77, LU 49
Missouri Western shot .531 from the field as they earned a victory at home over Lincoln. MWSU got 20 points off of turnovers and 13 second chance points as they moved to 7-9 in the league this season.
The Griffons were led by LaQuinta Jefferson who had 25 points and dished out four assists. Ariana Novak had 20 points and Chelsea Dewey dished out a team best eight assists. The Blue Tigers were led by Hunter Yoakum who scored 19 points on the night. Dorian Briggs added 13 points Lizzie Nessling led the way on the glass with four boards while dishing out three assists.
MBB: MWSU 65, LU 59
Missouri Western got 20 points from their bench as they defeated Lincoln at home on Wednesday. MWSU used a last 7-0 run to close out the game and move to 7-9 in the league this season.
For the Griffons Cortrez Colbert led the way scoring 29 points and Kevin Thomas pulled down a team high seven rebounds. Currie Byrd had 12 points and Aaron Emmanuel had three assists and five rebounds. For the Blue Tigers Joshua Buie had 19 points and pulling down six rebounds. Aaron Spudich had 10 points and Jeremy Jackson dished out a team best three assists.
Northwest Missouri at Lindenwood
WBB: LWU 73, NWMSU 67
Lindenwood scored 23 points off of turnovers as they earned a victory at home over Northwest Missouri. LWU shot .529 from behind the three-point line as they moved to 4-13 in the MIAA this season.
For the Lions Kassidy Gengenbacher led the way scoring 24 points while Jenny Rocha had 11 points and a game high nine assists. On the glass Vanessa Zailo led her team with nine rebounds. For the Bearcats Ariel Easton led the way with 20 points and team best seven rebounds. Tayna Meyer had 17 points and Taylor Shull added 11 points and four assists.
MBB: NWMSU 69, LWU 65
Northwest Missouri shot .565 from the field as they earned a victory on the road at Lindenwood. NWMSU got 12 points off of turnovers as they moved to 12-4 in league play this season.
For the Bearcats Conner Crooker led the way with 18 points while Matt Wallace pulled down six rebounds. Justin Pitts had 15 points, Zach Schneider finished with 12 points and Grant Cozad had 11 points. For the Lions Darris Smith led the way with 19 points and dished out a team best five assists. Cory Arentsen had 18 points and Chanse Creekmur had 10 points while Sam Mader pulled down seven rebounds.
Washburn at Fort Hays State
WBB: #5 FHSU 74, WU 67
#5 Fort Hays State trailed just once as they earned a victory over Washburn on their home floor. FHSU held WU to .368 shooting from the field as they moved to 15-1 in the league this season.
For the Tigers Beth Bohuslavsky led the way with 25 points while pulling down a team best seven rebounds. Kate Lehman and Jill Faxon each finished with 16 points and Paige Lunsford dished out two assists. For the Ichabods Taylor Ignoto led the way with 24 points as Casyn Buchman and Allyssa Nikkel each had eight rebounds and four assists. Honor Duvall finished with 16 points and had two steals on the evening.
MBB: FHSU 87, WU 79
Fort Hays State shot .531 from the field as they defeated Washburn on their home floor. FHSU shot .625 from behind the three-point line as they moved to 9-7 in the MIAA this season.
For the Tigers James Fleming led the way scoring 22 points and dishing out seven assists while Jake Stoppel pulled down 11 rebounds. Royce Williams had 15 points, Dom Samac added 14 points and Jared Tadlock finished with 10 points. For the Ichabods Kyle Wiggins had 17 points and six boards as Algie Key dished out eight assists. Alex North had 13 points, Jeremy Lickteig had 12 points and Andy Wilson finished with 10 points.
Southwest Baptist at Missouri Southern
WBB: MSSU 58, SBU 55
Missouri Southern outrebounded Southwest Baptist 32-27 as they earned a victory at home. After SBU took a one-point lead MSSU scored the final three points of the game as they moved to 10-5 in the league this season.
For the Lions Nicole Hartzog led the way with 14 points and dished out a team best three assists. Sharese Jones finished with 11 points while Jordan Dinyer pulled down a team best eight rebounds. For the Bearcats Megan Rosenbohm led the way with 20 points and took away a team best three steals. Mackenzie Skupa had 11 points and Dilonna Johnson pulled down a team best four rebounds.
MBB: SBU 74, MSSU 61
Southwest Baptist shot .521 from the field as they earned a win on the road at Missouri Southern. SBU scored 29 points off of turnovers as they moved to 8-7 in the league so far this season.
For the Bearcats Daymond Cowlah had a team best 15 points while dishing out four assists. Derrick Steward had 14 points and Menas Stephens had 13 points and pulled down nine rebounds. For the Lions Taevaunn Prince had 19 points while pulling down a team best six rebounds. Lane Barlow scored 13 points while dishing out a team high three assists.
