Kansas City, Mo. -- The mid-week portion of week 13 came to a close in MIAA basketball with three more double headers.
Central Oklahoma at Washburn
WBB: UCO 75, WU 64
Central Oklahoma shot .527 from the field as they picked up a victory on the road at Washburn. UCO held WU to .355 shooting from the field as they moved to 8-7 in league play.
The Bronchos were led by Julia Mason with 15 points and Chelsea Robinson added 13 points and three assists. Kylie Mayes also had 13 points and Olivia Mason finished with 11 points a team best eight rebounds. For the Ichabods Taylor Ignoto had a game high 21 points on the evening. Casyn Buchman added 20 points and Honor Duvall pulled down a team best eight rebounds.
MBB: WU 71, UCO 65
Washburn got 14 points off of turnovers and 19 second chance points in a win at home over Central Oklahoma. WU outrebounded UCO 41-34 on the night as they moved to 7-8 in the league this season.
The Ichabods were led by Kyle Wiggins who scored 19 points and David Salach with 13 points and nine rebounds. Andy Wilson and Kevin House each had 11 points while House dished out a team best six assists. For the Bronchos Seth Heckart had 16 points and four assists on the night. Phillip Brown had 13 points and six reobunds while Mahlon Jones added 12 points.
Northeastern State at Emporia State
WBB: NSU 58, #9 ESU 56 OT
Northeastern State held off three shots from #9 Emporia State in the final eight seconds of overtime to hold on for the win on the road. NSU held ESU to .271 shooting from the field as they moved to 6-8 in the league this season.
For the RiverHawks Bria Pierce led the way with 12 points and Danielle Robertson finished with 10 points. On the glass Fontana Tate had nine rebounds and Mya Walker pulled down seven boards. For the Lady Hornets Kelly Moten led the way with a double-double scoring 19 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Merissa Quick had 17 points and nine boards and Krystie Miller dished out a team best five assists.
MBB: NSU 73, ESU 63
Northeastern State held Emporia State to just 63 points in the first half as they earned a victory on the road. NSU shot .609 from the field and .636 from the three-point line as they moved to 4-10 in league play this season.
For the RiverHawks Keon Littleton led the way scoring 17 points and pulling down seven rebounds. Demone Harrison added 14 points and Trey Mohair and Dakota Caudill each added 12 points. For the Hornets Micah Swank led the way with 15 points and a team best five assists. Terrence Moore had 14 points and five rebounds while Jay Temaat added 13 points and five boards.
Nebraska-Kearney at Pittsburg State
WBB: #10 PSU 87, UNK 68
#10 Pittsburg State shot .500 from both the field and the three-point line as they defeated Nebraska-Kearney at home. PSU racked up 30 points off of turnovers as they moved to 12-2 in MIAA play.
For the Gorillas Lizzy Jeronimus led the way with 19 points and six boards while Morgan Westhoff added 12 points. Mikaela Burgess had 11 points and Cathy Brugman and Antqunita Reed each finished with 10 points. For the Lopers Alexa Hogberg led the way with 14 points and Kelsey Fitzgerald had 13 points and six rebounds. McKenzie Brown also finished with 13 points and Amarah Williams had 12 points on the evening.
MBB: PSU 101, UNK 73
Pittsburg State broke the century mark as they earned a victory at home over Nebraska-Kearney. PSU shot .607 from the field and .538 from the three-point line as they moved to 10-4 in the league this year.
Devon Branch led the way for the Gorillas as he scored 17 points and Javis Flynn dished out 10 assists. Josiah Gustafson had 23 points and six rebounds while Trey Starts had 12 points and Connor Kjer added 11 points. For the Lopers Ethan Brozek led the way with 26 points on the evening. Trey Lansman had 18 points and Isaiah McKay added 10 points while Kevin Dineen dished out four assists.
