Kansas City, Mo. -- Three double headers rounded out the mid-week portion of week ten in MIAA basketball.
Lindenwood at Southwest Baptist
WBB: SBU 70, LWU 60
Southwest Baptist came back from 11-point down at halftime to earn a victory at home over Lindenwood. SBU got 22 points off of turnovers and 13 second chance points as they moved to 3-6 in MIAA play.
For the Bearcats Dilonna Johnson scored 19 points and dished out three assists and Lissette Plasencia had 17 points. Megan Rosenbohm had 10 points and Sarah Magana pulled down a team best nine rebounds. For the Lions Kassidy Gengenbacher led all scorers with 28 points and also dished out three assists. On the glass Vanessa Zailo pulled down a game high 13 rebounds.
MBB: LWU 73, SBU 66
Lindenwood shot .510 from the field as they picked up a victory on the road at Southwest Baptist. It marked the eighth straight win for LWU as they moved to 7-2 in the league this season.
The Lions were led by Cory Arentsen who scored 21 points, pulled down six rebounds and dished out three assists. Darris Smith added 18 points and also dished out three assists. For the Bearcats Daymond Cowlah led the way with 11 points and Finn Delany added 10 points. On the glass Menas Stephens finished with eight total rebounds.
Washburn at Central Oklahoma
WBB: WU 55, UCO 50
Washburn was able to come back from three-point down at the half to earn a victory on the road at Central Oklahoma. WU outrebounded UCO 47-29 on the night as they moved to 5-4 in the league this season.
For the Ichabods Casyn Buchman led the way scoring 18 points and pulling down a team best nine rebounds. Allyssa Nikkel was also in double figures scoring 11 points and dishing out a team high five assists. For the Bronchos Kylie Mayes had 15 points and pulled down six rebounds. Olivia Mason had 10 points and added a team best eight boards.
MBB: WU 68, UCO 60
Washburn made a nine-point halftime lead stand up as they earned a win on the road at Central Oklahoma. With the game tied at the 4:38 mark WU used an 8-0 run to put the game away and move to 5-4 in the MIAA this season.
For the Ichabods Andy Wilson had 14 points and Alex North pulled down a team best eight rebounds. Kyle Wiggins, Korey Fisher and Turon Parker each finished the game with 11 points. For the Bronchos Garen Wright led the way with 18 points on the evening. On the glass Cal Andrews, Phillip Brown and Seth Heckart each finished with six rebounds.
Pittsburg State at Nebraska-Kearney
WBB: #4 PSU 86, UNK 73
#4 Pittsburg State shot .593 in the second half as they closed out a victory on the road at Nebraska-Kearney. PSU had 11 steals forcing 18 total turnovers as they moved to 7-1 in the league this year.
For the Gorillas Lizzy Jeronimus had 23 points, pulled down six rebounds and dished out five assists. Morgan Westoff had 18 points and Kylie Gafford had 10 points and a team best seven boards while Brigit Hesser dished out seven assists. For the Lopers Kelsey Fitzgerald scored 21 points while pulling down a team best seven rebounds. McKenzie Brown scored 16 points, Laramey Lewis added 13 points and Alexa Hogberg finished with 10 points.
MBB: UNK 68, PSU 64
Nebraska-Kearney shot .500 from the field as they earned a victory at home over Pittsburg State. UNK survived a late 7-0 run and comeback by PSU to move to 7-3 in the league this season.
The Lopers were led by a double-double from Ethan Brozek who scored 13 points and added 13 rebounds. Connor Beranek had a game high 25 points and Isaiah McKay and Ty Danielson each finished with 10 points. For the Gorillas Devon Branch had 22 points and Josiah Gustafson added 13 points. Lamine Dieng had 11 points and a team best nine rebounds while Javis Flynn dished out a team high six assists.
