Three doubleheaders start off the week

Kansas City, Mo. -- Week number ten gets underway as MIAA basketball teams take to the floor in three doubleheaders.

Northwest Missouri at Missouri Southern
WBB: MSSU 60, NWMSU 59
Missouri Southern trailed by four at the half, but came from behind to pick up a victory at home over Northwest Missouri. MSSU got 29 points from their bench as they moved to 6-3 in league play.
 
For the Lions Sharese Jones had a double-double scoring 12 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Shawnee Phillips led the team in scoring with 17 points and Nicole Hartzog had 11 points. For the Bearcats Tember Schechinger had a double-double as she scored 10 points and added 10 rebounds. Ariel Easton had a game high 27 points and pulled down nine rebounds.
 
MBB: MSSU 77, NWMSU 65
Missouri Southern got 21 second chance points as they defeated Northwest Missouri at home. MSSU held NWMSU to .345 shooting from the field as they moved to 6-3 in the league this season.

For the Lions Taevaunn Prince had a double-double scoring 26 points and pulling down 13 rebounds. Austin Wright added 13 points while Cameron Cornelius and Lane Barlow each finished with 11 points. For the Bearcats Conner Crooker led the way with 15 points and Matt Wallace and Brett Dougherty had seven rebounds each. Also in double figure scoring were Lyle Harris who finished with 14 points and Dougherty who had 12 points.
 
Emporia State at Northeastern State
WBB: #2 ESU 69, NSU 36
#2 Emporia State held Northeastern State to just 15 first half points as they earned a victory on the road. ESU held NSU to just .263 shooting from the field as they moved to 8-1 in the league this season.
 
For the Lady Hornets Kelly Moten led the way scoring 20 points while Kelsey Barwell added 12 points. Addie Lackey had 10 points and Kathryn Flott pulled down a team best 10 rebounds. For the RiverHawks Destiny Strange was the only one in double figures scoring 10 points. Fotana Tate and Chelsey Beathard each finished with six points on the night.
 
MBB: NSU 67, ESU 57
Northeastern State shot .511 from the field as they defeated Emporia State at home in Tahlequah. NSU also shot .500 from the three-point line as they moved to 2-8 in MIAA play.
 
For the RoverHawks Dakota Caudill led the way scoring a game high 20 points and pulling down five rebounds. Keon Littleton finished the game with 16 points and added five steals. For the Hornets Micah Swank led the way scoring 19 points and Terrence Moore added four assists. On the glass Spenser Gales had a game high seven rebounds.
 
Lincoln at Central Missouri
WBB: UCM 79, LU 67
Central Missouri scored 44 first half points on the way to a win at home over Lincoln. UCM racked up 18 points off of turnovers as they moved to 6-4 in the MIAA this season.
 
For the Jennies Revonnia Howard had a double-double scoring 17 points and pulling down 10 rebounds and Shelby Winkelmann added 15 points. Jasmine Thompson had 13 points, Justin Prairie Chief added 12 points and Tayler Welks finished with 11 points. For the Blue Tigers Kelsey Williams had 20 points and Kate Frazier added 15 points and eight rebounds. Lizzie Nessling had 11 points and nine boards while Hunter Yoakum finished with 10 points.
 
MBB: UCM 71, LU 62
Central Missouri got 41 points from their bench as they picked up a win over Lincoln at home. UCM racked up 42 points in the second half as they moved to 7-3 in the league this season.
 
For the Mules Tony Cochran and Dillon Deck each finished with 14 points on the evening. Rakeem Dickerson had 13 points and TJ White added 12 points, eight rebounds and six assists. For the Blue Tigers Malcolm McDonald led all scorers on the night with 18 points. Blake Ralling finished with 16 points and a team best seven rebounds.
