Three more sets of games in MIAA basketball

Kansas City, Mo. -- The mid-week portion of week nine came to a close with three more sets of games in MIAA basketball.

Central Oklahoma at Fort Hays State
WBB: FHSU 60, UCO 52
Fort Hays State held Central Oklahoma to just 20 first half points on the way to a win on their home floor. FHSU racked up 16 second chance points as they moved to 8-0 in the league this season.
 
For the Tigers Kate Lehman had a double-double as she scored 18 points and pulled down 12 rebounds. Chelsea Mason added 15 points and on the glass Keriann Shaw had a team best 13 rebounds. For the Bronchos Kylie Mayes led the way with 20 points and dished out three assists. On the glass Olivia Mason was in double figures with 10 boards.
 
MBB: FHSU 82, UCO 72
Fort Hays State scored 26 points off of turnovers as they defeated Central Oklahoma at home. FHSU shot .500 from behind the three-point line as they moved to 4-4 in league play this season.
 
The Tigers were led by Royce Williams who scored 17 points and pulled down six rebounds on the evening. Craig Nicholson had 16 points and seven assists while Jake Stoppel and Dom Samac each added 10 points. For the Bronchos Mahlon Jones led the way with 16 points and Corbin Byford finished with 14 points. Phillip Brown had a double-double as he scored 11 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.
 
Missouri Southern at Lindenwood
WBB: MSSU 79, LWU 70
Missouri Southern got 47 second half point as they picked up a victory on the road at Lindenwood. MSSU held LWU to just .379 shooting as they moved to 4-3 in the league this season.
 
The MSSU Lions were led by Nicole Hartzog who scored 30 points and added a team best six rebounds and six steals. Sharese Jones had 23 points and Alexis Fitzpatrick dished out a game high four assists. The LWU Lions were led by Kassidy Gengenbacher who had 21 points on the night. Jenny Rocha added 16 points and on the glass Vanessa Zailo pulled down 10 rebounds.
 
MBB: LWU 63, MSSU 58
Lindenwood came back from down six points at halftime to defeat Missouri Southern at home. Trailing by one points with 1:42 to play LWU scored the final six points of the game to move to 6-2 in the league this season.
 
The LWU Lions were led by Darris Smith who scored 20 points on the night. Cory Arentsen had a double-double scoring 16 points and pulling down 12 rebounds. For the MSSU Lions Cameron Cornelius led the way with 21 points and Taevunn Prince pulled down eight boards. Lane Barlow finished the game with 14 points.
 
Northeastern State at Nebraska-Kearney
WBB: UNK 61, NSU 49
Nebraska-Kearney held Northeastern State under 30 points in each half as they earned a victory on their home floor. UNK made just two free throws in the game, but came out on top to move to 4-4 in the MIAA this season.
 
For the Lopers Kelsey Fitzgerald led the way with 19 points and Alexa Hogberg dished out a game high nine assists. Amarah Williams had 14 points and pulled down nine rebounds and McKenzie Brown added 10 points. For the RiverHawks Bria Pierce was in double figures with 11 points on the evening. On the glass Chelsey Beathard pulled down seven rebounds and Destiny Strange added five boards.
 
MBB: UNK 83, NSU 59
Nebraska-Kearney shot .620 from the field as they picked up a win over Northeastern State on their home floor. UNK was 13 of 24 from behind three-point line as they moved to 5-3 in the league this season.
 
The Lopers were led by Connor Beranek who scored 32 points and pulled down seven rebounds. Trey Lansman and Ethan Brozek each scored 12 points as Brozek pulled down a team high eight rebounds. The RiverHawks were led by Dakota Caudill who had 17 points on the evening. Demone Harrison had 14 points and six rebounds and Trey Mohair added 12 points and five steals.
