UCM/NWMSU share men's title, UCM women win outright

Kansas City, Mo. – Central Missouri and Northwest Missouri shared the MIAA regular season title on the men’s side while the Central Missouri women won the Championship out right.

Washburn at Pittsburg State
WBB – #23 PSU 62, WU 49
#23 Pittsburg State only turned the ball over eight times as they picked up a win at home over Washburn. PSU held WU to only 21 second half points as they finished the regular season with a 16-3 record in league play.

For the Gorillas Lizzy Jeronimus scored 20 points, pulled down seven rebounds and dished out five assists. Cathy Brugman had 13 points and seven boards while Antqunita Reed had 12 points. For the Ichabods Casyn Buchman was the only scorer in double figures with 13 points and Brittney Lynch pulled down a game high 10 rebounds.

MBB – WU 92, PSU 90 OT
In a back and fourth game Washburn held on late in overtime to defeat Pittsburg State on the road. WU shot .557 from the field as they finished regular season play with a 10-9 record in league play.

For the Ichabods Kyle Wiggins led the way scoring 27 points and Alex North had a double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds. Chris Davis added 13 points and Leon Flowers added 11 points in the game. For the Gorillas Devon Branch had a game high 34 points and pulled down seven rebounds. Jake Bullard had 14 points and dished out eight assists and Connor Kjer added 11 points.

Missouri Southern at Lincoln
WBB – MSSU 60, LU 52
Missouri Southern held Lincoln to 23 second half points as they earned a victory on the road. MSSU shot .435 from the field as they finished the regular season with a 13-6 record in league play.

For the Lions Sharese Jones had a double-double scoring 15 points and pulling down a game high 11 rebounds. Dominique Mosley added 14 points and pulled down seven rebounds. For the Blue Tigers Jennifer Rosado was the only player in double figures with 14 points and six rebounds on the afternoon.

MBB – MSSU 102, LU 68
Missouri Southern put up 55 points in the first half as they picked up a win on the road at Lincoln. MSSU shot .569 from the field as they finished regular season with a 15-4 record in league play.

For the Lions Austin Wright led the way scoring 17 points and Marquis Addison added 16 points. Slim Magee also had 16 points and added nine rebounds while Jordan Talbert had 13 points and nine boards. For the Blue Tigers Joshua Buie led the way with 14 points and five assists while James Edmond finished with 13 points. Robert Hopkins and Mike Smith each had 11 points as Smith also pulled down nine rebounds.

Northwest Missouri at Central Missouri
WBB – #11 UCM 77, NWMSU 56
#11 Central Missouri wrapped out sole possession of the MIAA title with a win at home over Northwest Missouri. UCM got 16 second chance points as they finished the regular season with a 17-2 record in league play.

For the Jennies Revonnia Howard had a double-double scoring 12 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Keuna Flax had 15 points, BreAnna Lewis added 14 points while Shelby Winkelmann and Quinnecia Twine added 13 points. For the Bearcats Ariel Easton led the way with 19 points on the afternoon. Meridde Scott had 13 points and six rebounds while Tember Schechinger finished with 11 points.

MBB – #19 UCM 76, NWMSU 64
Central Missouri earned a victory at home over Northwest Missouri to earn a share of the MIAA regular season title. UCM shot .510 from the field as they finished the regular season with a 16-3 record in league play.

For the Mules Daylen Robinson led the way scoring 17 points and dishing out six assists. Charles Hammork added 16 points and eight rebounds while Ryan Donald finished with 10 points. For the Bearcats Dillon Starzl led the way scoring 18 points and adding six rebounds. DeShaun Cooper added 16 points and Zach Scneider finished with 12 points on the afternoon.

Missouri Western at Southwest Baptist
WBB – SBU 62, MWSU 57
Southwest Baptist earned a spot in the MIAA Tournament with a victory at home over Missouri Western. SBU shot .409 from the field as they finished the regular season with a 6-13 record in league play.

For the Bearcats Lissette Plasencia led the way 16 points and Jacqui Zelenka had 13 points and five rebounds. Brooke Duncan finished with 12 points on the afternoon. For the Griffons JaQuitta Dever was the only scorer in double figures with 22 points and Tiara Hall pulled down a game high seven rebounds.

MBB – SBU 100, MWSU 97
The two teams played a back and fourth close game as Southwest Baptist defeated Missouri Western at home. SBU shot .548 from the field as they finished the regular season with a 7-12 record in league play.

For the Bercats Desi Barmore led the way scoring 32 points and pulling down six rebounds. Rashaad Brown-Peterson had 23 points, Preston Guiot had 20 points and Menas Stephens added 10 points. For the Griffons Ryan Devers had a game high 40 points and Cortrez Colbert finished with 19 points. Kalvin Balque finished with a double-double scoring 18 points and pulling down 10 rebounds.
