Conference race continues to heat up

Kansas City, Mo. – The conference race continued to heat up as week thirteen came to an end in MIAA basketball.

Central Missouri at Missouri Southern
WBB – #13 UCM 75, MSSU 67
#13 Central Missouri hit 25 of 28 free throws as they picked up a victory on the road at Missouri Southern. UCM shot .489 and collected 36 rebounds as they moved to 12-2 in the league this season.

For the Jennies Keauna Flax had a game high 20 points and Revonnia Howard pulled down 11 rebounds. BreAnna Lewis had 16 points and Quinnecia Twine added 15 points to the effort. For the Lions Dominique Mosley led the way with 15 points and pulled down six rebounds. Alexis Fitzpatrick had 13 points and Sharese Jones added 12 points and four assists.

MBB – UCM 97, MSSU 92
Central Missouri racked up 56 second half points to pick up the victory on the road at Missouri Southern. UCM shot .593 from the field and .562 from the three-point line as they moved to 11-3 in league play.

For the Mules Dillon Deck led the way scoring 24 points and pulling down nine rebounds. Charles Hammork had 19 points, Daylen Robinson added 17 points and Ryan Magdziarz finished with 12 points. For the Lions Marquis Addison had 21 points and Slim Magee added a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Jordan Talbert also had 19 points while Lane Barlow finished with 11 points.

Missouri Western at Lindenwood
WBB – LWU 72, MWSU 60
Lindenwood got 24 points from their bench as they picked up a win at home over Missouri Western. LWU shot .550 from the field as they moved to 6-8 in MIAA play this season.

For the Lions Caroline Bourlioux led the way scoring 16 points, pulling down seven rebounds and dishing out six assists. Kassidy Gengebacher had 15 points and Jenny Rocha added 12 points. For the Griffons Alex Saxen led the way on the afternoon with 14 points. Quenisha Lockett had 12 points and seven boards while Krysten Crawford added 11 points.

MBB – LWU 93, MWSU 73
Lindenwood put up 53 second half points as they earned the victory over Missouri Western on their home floor. LWU shot .614 and hit 11 three-pointers as they moved to 5-9 in league play.

For the Lions Daris Smith had 28 points and Garrett Reeg added a double-double scoring 17 points and pulling down 10 boards. Tyler Ressel added 18 points and Aaron Ramirez had 12 points and nine rebounds. For the Griffons Cortrez Colbert led the way with 30 points and six rebounds. Kalvin Balque had 13 points and Hans Thun finished with 11 points on the afternoon.

Northwest Missouri at Lincoln
WBB – NWMSU 65, LU 53
Northwest Missouri held Lincoln to just 22 first half points as they picked the win on the road. NWMSU got 21 points off of turnovers and scored 28 points in the paint as they moved to 6-8 in league play.

For the Bearcats Ashleigh Nelson led the way with 20 points and four assists. Ariel Easton had 15 points and Annie Mathews had 10 points and nine rebounds. For the Blue Tigers Angela Randall had 15 points and Jaleisha Barrett pulled down a game high 12 rebounds. Hunter Yoakum had 13 points and Jennifer Rosado had 11 points on the afternoon.

MBB – NWMSU 97, LU 78
Northwest Missouri put up 53 points in the second half as they picked up their 10th straight win. NWMSU shot .571 from the field as they moved to 13-1 in the league this season.

For the Bearcats DeShaun Cooper led the way with a game high 35 points and Dillon Starzl added 14 points. Conner Crooker had 11 points while Grant Cozad and Bryston Williams each had 10 points. For the Blue Tigers Joshua Buie led the way with 19 points and three assists. James Edmond and Jeremy Jackson each had 15 points while Mike Smith finished with 12 points.

Central Oklahoma at Pittsburg State
WBB – PSU 72, UCO 52
Pittsburg State held Central Oklahoma to only 16 second half points as they picked up the win at home. PSU held UCO to .292 shooting in the second half after leading by just one at the half to move to 10-3 in MIAA play.

For the Gorillas Cathy Brugman had 25 points and seven boards and Lizzy Jeronimus dished out six assists. Antqunita Reed had 13 points and six boards while Kylie Gafford had 10 points and five rebounds. For the Bronchos Julia Mason led the way with 14 points while Olivia Mason pulled down seven rebounds. Jill Bryan and Britney Morgan each finished with 11 points on the afternoon.

MBB – UCO 80, PSU 72
Central Oklahoma got 16 points off of turnover and 16 second chance points as they picked up a win at Pittsburg State. UCO turned the ball over just eight times as they moved to 8-6 in league play.

For the Bronchos Josh Gibbs had a double-double scoring 19 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Cal Andrews had 21 points, Jarred Bairstow added 17 points and Phillip Brown finished with 14 points. For the Gorillas Devon Branch scored 21 points and Trevor Gregory pulled down a game-high 12 boards. Jake Bullard had 14 points and four assists while Josiah Gustafson added 10 points.

Fort Hays State at Emporia State
WBB – #7 ESU 80, #25 FHSU 77
#7 Emporia State scored 25 points off of turnovers as they picked up a win at home over #25 Fort Hays State. ESU forced 21 turnovers in total as the moved to 12-2 in the league this season.

For the Lady Hornets Kionna Kellog had a double-double had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds while Amber Vandiver had 20 points. Merissa Quick had 15 points, Haley Parker added 11 points and Kelly Moten finished with 10 points. For the Tigers Kate Lehman had a double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds on the night. Tera Ingalsbe had 15 points and Beth Bohuslavsky had 10 points.

MBB – #23 FHSU 65, ESU 59
#23 Fort Hays State put up 42 second half points after only scoring 23 in the first half to win on the road at Emporia State. FHSU only turned the ball over nine times as they moved to 10-4 in league play.

For the Tigers Dwayne Brunson scored 26 points and pulled down seven rebounds and Jake Stoppel also pulled down seven boards. Craig Nicholson had 21 points and dished out three assists. For the Hornets Terrence Moore had a double-double with 12 points and a game high 10 rebounds. Paul Bunch and Kaleb Wright each had 15 points with Bunch pulling down eight boards.

Nebraska-Kearney at Washburn
WBB – UNK 61, WU 53
Nebraska-Kearney held Washburn to just 21 first half points as they picked up a victory on the road. UNK allowed just six first half field goals as they moved to 4-10 in the league this season.

For the Lopers Amarah Williams had 21 points and eight rebounds and Shelby Zimmerman had 15 points and nine boards. Nicole Arp had 13 points and dished out a game high six assists. For the Ichabods Brittney Lynch had a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Honor Duvall had 10 points and Casyn Buchman pulled down six rebounds.

MBB – UNK 90, WU 84
Nebraska-Kearney erased a seven-point halftime deficit as they picked up a victory on the road at Washburn. UNK put up 51 second half points and shot .519 from the field as they moved to 7-7 in league play.

For the Lopers Connor Beranek had a double-double scoring 18 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Davion Pearson had 16 points, Tyler Shields added 14 points and Ethan Brozak finished with 12 points. For the Ichabods Alex North led the way with 31 points and eight rebounds. Kyle Wiggins had 19 points and dished out six assists while Korey Fisher finished with 11 points.
