Four games bring the regular season finale closer

Kansas City, Mo. – Nebraska-Kearney swept Central Oklahoma and Northeastern State and Fort Hays State split as the final week in the MIAA basketball regular season continued.

Central Oklahoma at Nebraska-Kearney
WBB – UNK 76, UCO 71
Nebraska-Kearney used the strength of 45 first half points as they picked up a win at home over Central Oklahoma. UNK shot .500 from the field in the first half as they finish the regular season with a 6-13 record in league play.

For the Lopers Amarah Williams led the way with 19 points and Sarah Hix added 12 points while Nicole Arp and Laramey Lewis each had 10 points. Shelby Zimmerman had a double-double scoring 10 points and pulling down a game high 11 rebounds. For the Bronchos Hayley Bryan led the way with 15 points and Jill Bryan and Britney Morgan each had 13 points. Olivia Mason had 10 points and pulled down a team best five boards.

MBB – UNK 82, UCO 79
Nebraska-Kearney came back from a halftime deficit as they earned a victory over Central Oklahoma at home. UNK scored 20 points off of turnover as they finish the regular season with a 10-9 record.

For the Lopers Ethan Brozek had a double-double scoring 24 points and pulling down 10 rebounds while Connor Beranek added 23 points. Mike Dentlinger finished with 13 points and Davion Pearson dished out six assists. For the Bronchos Jarred Bairstow had a double-double scoring 16 points and pulling down 10 boards. Josh Gibbs also had a double-double scoring 14 points and adding 13 rebounds while Aaron Anderson had a team best 19 points. 

Northeastern State at Fort Hays State
WBB – FHSU 55, NSU 39
Fort Hays State held Northeastern State to just 15 first half points as they earned a victory at home. FHSU used 16 second chance points and got 23 points from their bench as they finish the regular season with a 12-7 record.

For the Tigers Kate Lehman had a triple-double wit 10 points, 17 rebounds and 10 blocked shots. Katelyn Edwards had a double-double with 10 points and 12 boards while Beth Bohuslavsky had a team high 12 points. For the Courtney Cowan was the only player in double figures scoring 13 points and pulling down eight rebounds.

MBB – NSU 75, FHSU 72
Bryton Hobbs scored the last six points for Northeastern State as they came from behind to earn a victory at Fort Hays State. NSU erased a seven points halftime deficit as they finished the regular season with a 9-10 record.

For the RiverHawks Bryton Hobbs led the way with 30 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Landon DeMasters added 15 points and five rebounds on the night as well. For the Tigers Dwayne Brunson led the way with 22 points and a game high nine rebounds. Carson Konrade had 18 points and Craig Nicholson finished with 13 points and seven assists.
