Kansas City, Mo. -- Teams earned spots in the MIAA tournament as week 14 in MIAA basketball came to a close.
Central Missouri at Lindenwood
WBB – #12 UCM 88, LWU 69
#12 Central Missouri put up 51 first half points as they picked up a victory on the road at Lindenwood. UCM shot .522 from the field and .500 from behind the three-point line as they moved to 14-2 in league play.
For the Jennies BreAnna Lews scored 22 points and Revonnia Howard pulled down 12 rebounds. Breonna Embray had 15 points, Keuna Flax had 13 points and Shelby Winkelmann added 11 points and six assists. For the Lions Kassidy Gengerbacher scored 16 points and Julie Hlinak pulled down seven rebounds. Morgan Johnson had 13 points and Dru Haertling dished out four assists.
MBB – UCM 82, LWU 76
Central Missouri shot .492 for the game as they picked up a victory on the road at Lindenwood. UCM got 16 points off turnover and 12 second chance points as they moved to 13-3 in league play.
For the Mules Daylen Robinson led the way scoring 19 points and dishing out six assists. Charles Hammork and TJ White each scored 14 points and pulled down six rebounds while Jordan Epps added 11 points. For the Lions Tyler Ressel led the way scoring a game high 24 points. Brandon Marquardt had 17 points and seven rebounds while Darris Smith added 13 points.
Southwest Baptist at Lincoln
WBB – SBU 68, LU 55
Southwest Baptist held Lincoln to only 18 first half points as they earned a victory on the road. SBU scored 18 points off of 18 LU turnovers as they moved to 5-10 in the league this season.
For the Bearcats Brook Ducan led the way with 18 points while Sarah Magena pulled down 10 rebounds. Jacqui Zelenka finished with 16 points and Morgan Lucy added 10 points. For the Blue Tigers Huter Yoakum led the way scoring a game high 22 points on the night. Angela Randall scored 10 points and pulled down a team best six rebounds.
MBB – SBU 98, LU 69
Southwest Baptist put up 53-points in the first half as they picked up a win on the road at Lincoln. SBU shot .554 from the field as they moved to 6-9 in league play this season.
For the Bearcats Menas Stephens had a double-double scoring 11 points and pulling down 10 rebounds and Jaywuan Hill had a team high 19 points. Desi Barmore had 15 points, Rashaad Brown-Peterson 14 points, Preson Guiot 13 points and Afam Obukwelu added 11 points. For the Blue Tigers Joshua Buie scored a game high 22 points and dished four assists. James Edmond had 16 points and added eight rebounds while Dimitrije Gudovski had 12 points and seven boards.
Missouri Southern at Missouri Western
WBB – MSSU 68, MWSU 61
Missouri Southern erased a four-point halftime deficit to pick up a victory on the road at Missouri Western. MSSU held MWSU to just .200 shooting in the second half as they moved to 10-5 in the MIAA.
For the Lions Nicole Hartzog led the way with 16 points and Alexis Fitzpatrick and Tee Singleton each pulled down a team best five rebounds. Dominique Mosley added 15 points, Sharese Jones had 12 points and Shonte Clay finished with 10 points. For the Griffons Sharniece Lewis had a game high 21 points and Tiara Hall pulled down a game high 10 rebounds. Aleix Gray added 14 points and eight boards on the afternoon.
MBB – MSSU 78, MWSU 60
Missouri Southern held Missouri Western to 26 second half points as they picked up a victory on the road. MSSU shot .482 for the game and .571 from behind the three-point line as they moved to 11-4 in league play.
For the Lions Slim Magee led the way with a double-double scoring 14 points and pulling down 12 rebounds. Marquis Addison had 14 points, Jordan Talbert added 12 points and Austin Wright finished with 10 points. For the Griffons Ryan Devers had a game high 16 points on the afternoon. Cortrez Colbert, Kalvin Balque and Charlie Marquart each had 11 points as Marquardt pulled down a team best nine boards.
Emporia State at Central Oklahoma
WBB – #7 ESU 66, UCO 45
#7 Emporia State held Central Oklahoma to just 15 first half point as they earned a win away from home. ESU held UCO to just .161 shooting in the first half as they move to 14-2 in the league this season.
For the Lady Hornets Laura Patrick led the way with a double-double scoring 12 points and pulling down 13 rebounds while Rheanna Egli had 11 points. Merissa Quick also had a double-double scoring 10 points and adding 11 rebounds. For the Bronchos Julia Mason was the only player in double figures scoring 12 points and pulling down six rebounds.
MBB – UCO 82, ESU 73
Central Oklahoma put up 44 second half points as they picked up a win at home over Emporia State. UCO shot .560 from the field as they moved to 10-6 in league play this season.
For the Bronchos Josh Gibbs led the way with a double-double scoring 28 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Seth Heckert had 18 points, Jacob Strassle had 12 points and Aaron Anderson finished with 11 points. For the Hornets Terrence Moore led the way scoring 20 points on the afternoon. Paul Bunch added 12 points while Kaleb Wright pulled down a team high six rebounds.
Washburn at Northeastern State
WBB – WU 56, NSU 52 OT
Washburn erased an eight-point halftime deficit as they forced overtime and picked up a win at Northeastern State. WU held NSU to just 18 second half points on their way to going to 10-6 in the MIAA.
For the Ichabods Brittney Lynch had a double-double scoring 16 points and pulling down 10 rebounds Taylor Ignoto added 14 points while on the glass Honor Duvall and Kara Lee each brought down 11 boards. For the RiverHawks Kate Bellamy was the only scorer in double figures finishing with 15 points. On the glass Che’Ron Lewis had nine rebounds and Carrington Fox, Mya Walker and Fontana Tate each had six boards.
MBB – NSU 68, WU 59
Northeastern State ended a six game losing streak picking up a victory at home over Washburn. NSU shot .500 from the field on the first half as they moved to 7-8 in the league this season.
For the RiverHawks Marcus Sheppard led the way scoring 16 points and pulling down seven rebounds. Dalen Qualls finished with 14 points and Bryton Hobbs added 11 points and dished out five assists. For the Ichabods Alex North led the way with 16 points and nine rebounds. Jeff Reid added 15 points and nine boards while Stephon Drane added 12 points.
Pittsburg State at Fort Hays State
WBB – PSU 71, #24 FHSU 67
Pittsburg State used a seven-point halftime advantage to propel themselves to an upset win at #24 Fort Hays State. PSU held off a late charge by the FHSU as they moved to 12-3 in the league this season.
For the Gorillas Lizzy Jeronimus led the way with 17 points and Cathy Brugman added 14 points. Y’Cedria Devers pulled down a team best 11 rebounds on the afternoon. For the Tigers Kate Lehman had a double-double scoring 15 points, pulling down 11 rebounds and blocking six shots. Chelsea Mason had a team best 20 points and Kerlann Shaw pulled down seven boards.
MBB – FHSU 87, PSU 69
Fort Hays State shot .510 from the field as they earned a victory at home over Pittsburg State. FHSU got 36 points from their bench as they moved to 11-4 in the MIAA this season.
For the Tigers James Fleming led the way with 20 points and Craig Nicholson dished out six assists. Dwayne Brunson had 17 points, Achoki Moikobu added 16 points and Tomislav Gabrid finished with 13 points. For the Gorillas Jake Bullard had a team best 19 points and dished out four assists. Devon Branch had 15 points and Josiah Gustafson and Connor Kjer each had 12 points.
