Kansas City, Mo. – Two double headers closed out the mid-week portion of week fourteen in MIAA basketball.
Pittsburg State at Nebraska-Kearney
WBB – PSU 66, UNK 50
Pittsburg State allowed Nebraska-Kearney just 25 points in each half as they picked up a victory on the road. PSU shot .515 in the second half as they moved to 11-3 in the MIAA this season.
The Gorillas were led by Lizzy Jeronimus who had 20 points and five rebounds on the night. Antqunita Reed had 12 points and Cathy Brugman added 10 points and a team high seven boards. For the Lopers Shelby Zimmerman led the way scoring 14 points and pulling down eight rebounds. Amarah Williams scored 10 points and pulled down nine boards.
MBB – UNK 92, PSU 83
Nebraska-Kearney used 53 second half points to pick up a win over Pittsburg State at home. UNK turned the ball over just five times as they moved to 8-7 in league play this season.
For the Lopers Ethan Brozek led the way with a double-double scoring 23 points and pulling down 18 rebounds. Connor Beranek scored 19 points, Mike Dentlinger had 13 points and Kevin Dineen scored 12 points. For the Gorillas Jake Bullard and Devon Branch each had 16 points and five assists. Alex Williams added 15 points and eight rebounds while Connor Kjer added 14 points.
Washburn at Central Oklahoma
WBB – WU 63, UCO 59
Washburn held Central Oklahoma to only 21 second half points as they came from behind for a victory on the road. WU held UCO to .286 shooting in the second half as they moved to 9-6 in league play this season.
For the Icabods Brittney Lynch had a double-double scoring 22 points and pulling down 13 rebounds. Casyn Buchman had 14 points and dished out six assists adding to five rebounds. For the Bronchos Jill Bryan, Britney Morgan and Julia Mason all finished with 14 points. Olivia Mason had 10 points and Chelsea Robinson added four assists on the night.
MBB – UCO 72, WU 70
Central Oklahoma held off a Washburn second half comeback as they picked up a victory at home. UCO got to the line 11 more times and hit three more from behind the arc to move to 9-6 in league play.
For the Bronchos Josh Gibbs had a double-double scoring 21 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Cal Andrews had 17 points, Aaron Anderson had 12 points and Seth Heckart finished with 11 points. For the Ichbaods Kyle Wiggins led the way scoring 11 points and dishing out eight assists. Alex North had 10 points and pulled down nine rebounds and Korey Fisher added 10 points.
