Kansas City, Mo. – Twelve of the 14 MIAA teams were in action as week twelve came to a close.
Missouri Southern at Central Missouri
WBB – #12 UCM 70, MSSU 61
#12 Central Missouri led from the 18:54 mark in the first half on as they picked up a victory at home over Missouri Southern. UCM got 18 points off of turnover as they moved to 10-2 in league play.
For the Jennies Keuna Flax led the way with 27 points and Revonnia Howard pulled down 11 rebounds. BreAnna Lewis had 22 points on the night as also finished with nine rebounds. For the Lions Dominique Mosely had a double-double scoring 22 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Tee Singleton added 13 points and six rebounds on the afternoon.
MBB – UCM 75, MSSU 62
Central Missouri held Missouri Southern to 28 first half points as they picked up a victory at home. UCM got 20 points from their bench as they moved to 9-3 in the league this season.
For the Mules Daylen Robinson led all scorers with 23 points and also dished three assists. Dillon Deck added 15 points and Kyle Wolf finished with 12 points in the ballgame. For the Lions Marquis Addison led the way with 18 points. Greg Renfroe, Jordan Talbert and Slim Magee all had a game high five rebounds.
Lindenwood at Missouri Western
WBB – MWSU 65, LWU 62
Missouri Western led by 18 at the half, but had to hold off Lindenwood for the three-point win at home. MWSU got 24 points off of turnover which proved to be the difference as they moved to 4-8 in the MIAA this season.
For the Griffons Quenisha Lockett had 17 points and pulled down nine rebounds. Sharniece Lewis also had 17 points and Tiffanie Abrams added 14 points in the game. For the Lions Dru Haertling had 18 points and Caroline Bourlioux and Julie Hlinak each had eight rebounds. Jenny Rocha also added 12 points on the afternoon.
MBB – LWU 66, MWSU 64
Lindenwood hit three free throws in the final 35 seconds to hold off a charge by Missouri Western and win on the road. MWSU shot .923 from the charity stripe as they improved to 4-8 in league play this season.
For the Lions Darris Smith had a double-double scoring 24 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Garrett Reeg had 15 points and added nine rebounds coming one board shy of a double-double. For the Griffons Ryan Devers scored 17 points and added nine rebounds. Charlie Marquardt had 15 points and Dareon Jones had 10 points while Cortrez Colbert dished out six assists.
Lincoln at Northwest Missouri
WBB – NWMSU 55, LU 47
Northwest Missouri held Lincoln to just 20 points in the second half as they picked up the victory at home. NWMSU allowed LU just .320 shooting as they moved to 4-8 in league play.
For the Bearcats Ariel Easton led the way with 22 points and had seven rebounds. Tember Schechinger had 10 points and Annie Mathews pulled down a team best eight boards. For the Blue Tigers Jennifer Rosado led the way with 13 points as Kate Frazier and Angela Randall each pulled down six boards. Hunter Yoakum and Quiessence Price each finished the afternoon with 11 points.
MBB – NWMSU 92, LU 59
Northwest Missouri shot .610 from the field as they picked up a victory over Lincoln at home. NWMSU scored 51 second half points as they moved to 11-1 in the league this season.
For the Bearcats Gran Cozad led the way with 16 points while Conner Crooker finished with 15 points. Dillon Starzl had 13 points and seven rebounds while Zach Schneider finished with 12 points and seven boards. For the Blue Tigers James Edmond led all scored with 25 points as they only LU player in double figures. On the glass Joshua Buie had a team high five rebounds on the afternoon.
Pittsburg State at Central Oklahoma
WBB – PSU 69, UCO 66
Pittsburg State held off a comeback from Central Oklahoma to pick up a victory on the road. PSU shot .500 from the field as they moved to 8-3 in the MIAA this season.
For the Gorillas Lizzy Jeronimus led the way with 28 points and eight rebounds on the afternoon. Antqunita Reed had ten points and Cathy Brugman pulled down seven rebounds. For the Bronchos Olivia Mason led the way with 19 points and six rebounds. Britney Morgan added 15 points and Jill Bryan had 11 points and dished out five assists.
MBB – UCO 74, PSU 73
Aaron Anderson used the old fashioned three-point play to give Central Oklahoma the win over Pittsburg State with nine seconds to play at home. UCO trailed by six with 1:49 to play, but stormed back to move to 6-6 in league play.
For the Bronchos Josh Gibbs led the way scoring 22 points and pulling down seven rebounds. Anderson finished with 17 points and seven assists, Seth Heckart had 15 points and Cal Andrews finished with 12 points. For the Gorillas Devon Branch had 22 points and added six rebounds. Jake Bullard had 14 points, Connor Kjer had 12 points, Terrell Eaddy had 10 points and added eight boards.
Emporia State at Nebraska-Kearney
WBB – #3 ESU 84, UNK 75
#3 Emporia State scored 22 points off turnover and got 28 points from their bench as they picked up a win on the road at Nebraska-Kearney. ESU shot .491 from the field as they moved to 10-2 in league play this season.
For the Lady Hornets Laura Patrick was the only player in double figures as she finished with 28 points. Merissa Quick and Kionna Kellog each finished with nine points and seven rebounds. For the Lopers Amarah Williams had a double-double scoring 23 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Laramey Lewis had a team high 24 points and Nicole Arp dished out 11 assists.
MBB – UNK 66, ESU 65
Davion Pearson hit a three-pointer with 13 seconds to play give Nebraska-Kearney a victory at home over Emporia State. UNK erased a 13 points halftime deficit to move to 5-7 in the league this season.
For the Lopers Mike Dentlinger had 24 points and Ethan Brozek finished with 15 points. Conner Beranek had 11 points and a game high nine rebounds and Pearson added ten points on the afternoon. For the Hornets Kaleb Wright led the way scoring 16 points and pulling down eight rebounds. Terrence Moore had 15 points and Paul Bunch added 11 points and seven rebounds.
Washburn at Fort Hays State
WBB – FHSU 69, WU 62
Fort Hays State got 21 points from their bench as they defeated Washburn at home in week twelve. FHSU scored 24 second chance points and got 19 free throws as they moved to 8-4 in league play.
For the Tigers Kate Lehman led the way with 14 points and Katelyn Edwards pulled down a game high 14 rebounds. Nikola Kacperska had 11 points and Tera Ingalsbe had 10 points while Beth Bohuslavsky had six assists. For the Ichabods Taylor Ignoto had 14 points and Janelle Travis added 13 points. Casyn Buchman had 10 points and Brittney Lynch added 10 points and a team best seven rebounds.
MBB – #24 FHSU 87, WU 85 OT
#24 Fort Hays State got a last second shot from Dwayne Brunson as they defeated Washburn at home. FHSU shot .491 from the field as they moved to 9-3 in the MIAA this season.
For the Tigers Craig Nicholson led the way scoring 23 points and dishing eight assists. Dwayne Brunson had 19 points, James Fleming had 17 points and Carson Konrade finished with 13 points.For the Ichabods Alex North led the way with a double-double scoring 23 points and pulling down a game high 12 rebounds. Chris Davis added 14 points and Kyle Wiggins and Leon Flowers finished with 13 points each.
