Kansas City, Mo. – Emporia State and Southwest Baptist split in the only league contest played during week four in MIAA basketball.

WBB: #1 ESU 75, SBU 63
#1 Emporia State scored 52 second half point to erase a three-point halftime lead and win on the road at Southwest Baptist. ESU shot .500 from the field in the second half as they moved to 2-0 in league play this season.
For the Lady Hornets Kelly Moten led the way scoring 24 points and dishing out three assists. Amber Vandiver had 10 points and led the way on the glass with eight boards. For the Bearcats Brook Duncan had 15 points and a team best nine rebounds. Ashlee Pitts added 13 points and Dilonna Johnson finished the game with 10 points.
MBB: SBU 71, ESU 51
Southwest Baptist shot .500 from the field for the game they picked up a win at home over Emporia State. SBU got 27 points off of their bench as they moved to 1-2 in league play this season.
For the Bearcats Afam Obukwelu led all scorers with 18 points and Derrick Stewart added 14 points. Finn Delany added 12 points and Daymond Cowlah had 10 points as they each finished with a team best five rebounds. For the Hornets Jevon Taylor led the way with 14 points and Josh Pederson added 11 points. On the glass Tyler Jordan finished with a game high 11 rebounds.
