Kansas City, Mo. -- Top seeded Northeastern State held off Upper Iowa 2-1 to earn a spot in the MIAA Men's Soccer Tournament Championship game.
Jordan Schmoker got things started in the 22nd minute as he scored off a pass from Ricardo Palomino. Justin Todd would then add a goal in the 41st minute, unassisted to give his team the 2-0 edge.
Upper Iowa's Ryan Pinkerton would then score in the 45th minute to make a 2-1 halftime score. Neither team would score in the second half as NSU held UIU to no second half shots on goal. In the net for the RiverHawks Jackson Biles made one save allowing just one goal in 90 minutes of play.
Northeastern State will face off with Lindenwood in the MIAA Men's Soccer Championship on Nov. 8 at 11 a.m. from the College Boulevard Activities Complex in Olathe, Kan.
