Kansas City, Mo. -- Missouri Western and Pittsburg State swept double headers to kick off week twelve in MIAA basketball.
Lincoln at Missouri Western
WBB – MWSU 42, LU 28
Missouri Western held Lincoln to just 12 points in the first half as they picked up the victory at home. MWSU held LU to just .171 shooting from the field as they moved to 3-8 in league play.
For the Griffons JaQuitta Dever and Sharniece Lewis each led the way with ten points. On the glass Jallisa Lewis pulled down a game high 11 rebounds. For the Blue Tigers Jennifer Rosado was the only scorer in double figures with 13 points on the night. On the glass Jaleisha Barrett and Nesha Wright each pulled down five rebounds.
MBB – MWSU 99, LU 71
Missouri Western scored 51 points in the first half on the way to picking up a victory at home over Lincoln. MWSU shot .667 from the field as the moved to 4-7 in the MIAA this season.
For the Griffons Ryan Devers led the way with 24 points and Hans Thun pulled down seven rebounds. Cortrez Colbert had 16 points, Dareon Jones added 15 points and Charlie Marquardt had 14 points. For the Blue Tigers Joshua Buie led the way with 35 points also dishing four assists. Jeremy Jackson finished with 12 points on the evening.
Northeastern State at Pittsburg State
WBB – PSU 68, NSU 53
Pittsburg State blocked six shots on the night as they picked up a victory at home over Northeastern State. PSU got 19 bench points and scored 20 points off of turnover as they moved to 7-3 in league play.
For the Gorillas Lizzy Jeronimus led the way with 21 points and nine rebounds. Cathy Brugman had 14 points and nine boards while Antquanita Reed finished with 11 points. For the RiverHawks Chelsey Beathard had 14 points to lead her teams. Che’Ron Lewis added 12 points and nine rebounds as Fontana Tate finished with ten points.
MBB – PSU 73, NSU 63
Pittsburg State used a 42 point first half to picked up a victory at home over Northeastern State. PSU shot .442 from the field as they moved to 3-7 in the MIAA this season.
For the Gorillas Devon Branch scored 23 points and dished six assists while Connor Kjer pulled down 10 rebounds. Jake Bullard had 16 points and Trevory Gregory added eight boards. For the RiverHawks Bryton Hobbs came just shy of a double-double scoring 18 points and dishing out nine assists. Dalen Qualls had 16 points and Curis Evans had 15 points while Landon DeMasters pulled down seven boards.
