Another top ten upsets highlights the night

Kansas City, Mo. -- A wild night included the second upset of a top ten team on the week in MIAA basketball.

Lindenwood at Central Missouri
WBB – LWU 65, #8 UCM 64
Lindnewood scored with 1:03 to play and did not allow another bucket to #8 Central Missouri as they picked up an upset victory on the road. LWU didn’t allow UCM a field goal in the final 1:51 as they moved to 5-5 in league play this season.

For the Lions Kassidy Gengenbacher led the way with 17 points and Julie Hlinak pulled down 10 rebounds. Marissa Lehnig had 14 points, Caroline Bourlious added 12 points and Dru Haertling finished with 10 points on the afternoon. For the Jennies Keuna Flax had 21 points and pulled down six rebounds. Shelby Winkelmann had 11 points and Revonnia Howard added seven boards.

MBB – UCM 77, LWU 58
Central Missouri put up 41 first half points as they picked up a victory over Lindenwood at home. UCM got 26 points off of turnover and added 24 second chance points as they moved to 8-3 in league play.

For the Mules Dillon Deck had a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds on the afternoon. Charles Hammork finished with 14 points and six rebounds and Kyle Wolf  had 12 points and five boards. For the Lions Darris Smith had 11 points and Aaron Ramirez had 10 points and seven rebounds.

Fort Hays State at Pittsburg State
WBB – PSU 74, #24 FHSU 60
Pittsburg State pulled down 52 total rebounds as they upset #24 Fort Hays State at home. PSU held FHSU to just .338 shooting as they moved to 6-3 in the MIAA on the season.

For the Gorillas Lizzy Jeronimus led the way with 16 points and Y’Cedria Devers pulled down 10 rebounds. Alexa Bordewick had 10 points and Alex Muff added nine rebounds on the afternoon. For the Tigers Kate Lehman scored 17 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Katelyn Edwards added 13 points and finished with six rebounds.

MBB – FHSU 78, PSU 75
Pittsburg State would get as close as one point with seven seconds to remain, but Fort Hays State held on to win on the road. FHSU shot .409 from behind the three-point line as they moved to 7-3 in league play.

For the Tigers Jake Stoppel had a double-double scoring 10 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Carson Konrade had 17 points and Craig Nicholson and James FLiming each finished with 15 points. For the Pittsburg State Devon Branch had 20 points and Trevor Gregory pulled down a team best eight boards. Jake Bullard added 15 points and Sam Pugh had 14 points on the afternoon.

Lincoln at Southwest Baptist
WBB – SBU 66, LU 58
Southwest Baptist erased a nine-point halftime deficit to pick up a victory at home over Lincoln. SBU got 41 second half points and converted 18 points off of turnover as they moved to 3-7 in league play.

For the Bearcats Brook Duncan and Alex Botkin led the way as they both scored 15 points. Jacqui Zelenka scored 10 points and pulled down a team best nine rebounds. For the Blue Tigers Angela Randall had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds also dishing five assists. Jennifer Rosado led all-scorers with 18 points and Quiessence Price scored 11 points.

MBB – SBU 101, LU 70
Southwest Baptist put up 56 second half points as they earned a victory at home over Lincoln. SBU shot .596 from the field as they moved to 3-7 in league play this season.

For the Beatcats Menas Stephens had a double-double with 16 points and 16 rebounds. Desi Barmore and Derrick Stewart each finished with 23 points and Rashaad Brown-Peterson had 10 points. For the Blue Tigers Josh Buie led all-scores with 26 points, five assists and also added six steals on the afternoon. Jeremy Jackson added 21 points Dimitrije Gudovski pulled down a team best five rebounds

Missouri Western at Missouri Southern
WBB – MSSU 65, MWSU 50
Missouri Southern shot .618 on the afternoon as they picked up a win at home over Missouri Western. MSSU held MWSU to just .263 shooting as they moved to 8-2 in the MIAA this year.

For the Lions Dominique Mosley came off the bench scoring 13 points in just 18 minutes of play. Shonte Clay and Sharese Jones each had 10 points for the ballgame and Samantha Soyez dished six assists. For the Griffons Jallisa Lewis led the way with nine points and nine rebounds. Tiara Hall added nine points and pulled down seven rebounds.

MBB – #22 MSSU 105, MWSU 71
Missouri Southern put up more than 50 points in both halves as they picked up a win at home overs Missouri Western. MSSU shot .680 from the field and .727 from behind the three-point line as they moved to 8-2 in the league this season.

For the Lions Greg Renfroe led the way with 28 points and Jordan Talbert had eight rebounds. Marquis Addison finished with 14 points, Cameron Cornellius had 13 points, Slim Magee added 12 points and Lane Barlow had 10 points. For the Griffons Ryan Devers led thew ay with 14 points and Dzenana Mrkaljevic had 12 points and six rebounds. Kalvin Balque also added 12 points and Charlie Marquardt finished with 11 points.

Northeastern State at Washburn
WBB – WU 60, NSU 37
Wasburn allowed Northeastern State just 18 second half points as they picked up the win on their home floor. WU held NSU to just .275 shooting on the night as they moved to 7-3 in league play.

For the Ichabods Taylor Ignoto led the way with 15 points and Brittney Lynch pulled down a game high 13 rebounds. Janelle Travis finished with 14 points and Casyn Buchman and Honor Duvall each scored nine points. For the RiverHawks Chelsey Beathard was the only scorer in double figures with 10 points. Courtney Cowan had nine points and Mya Walker pulled down a team best six rebounds.

MBB – WU 75, NSU 63
Washburn got ten three-pointers as they picked up a victory over Northeastern State at home. WU outrebounded NSU 43-36 on the night as they moved to 7-3 in the league this season.

For the Ichabods Alex North led the way with a double-double scoring 10 points and pulling down a game best 20 rebounds. Leon Flowers led the team in scoring with 22 points, Korey Fisher had 20 points and Kyle Wiggins finished with 13 points. For the RiverHawks Bryton Hobbs had a game high 24 points and Amir Gilliam and Jeremy McDonald led the way on the glass with eight rebounds each. Curtis Evans had 10 points and seven rebounds on the night.
