Kansas City, Mo. – Six double headers dot the schedule as week number ten comes to a close.
Lincoln at Missouri Southern
WBB – MSSU 86, LU 62
Missouri Southern scored 29 points off of turnover as they picked up a victory over Lincoln at home. MSSU shot .648 from the field as they moved to 6-2 in league play.
For the Lions Nicole Hartzog led the way with 26 points and a game high seven steals. Sharese Jones had 18 points and seven boards and Shonte Clay finished with 16 points and seven rebounds. For the Blue Tigers Jennifer Rosado hit 16 free throws as she finished with 26 points. Hunter Yakum added 13 points and Jaleisha Barrett pulled down five rebounds.
MBB – MSSU 76, LU 63
Missouri Southern held Lincoln to just 30 points in the first half as they picked up a victory at home. MSSU got 38 free throws as they moved to 7-1 in league play this season.
For the Lions Cameron Cornelius led the way going 13 of 14 from the line and scored 21 points. Marquis Addison had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds while Slim Magee added 12 points. For the Blue Tigers Josh Buie had 21 points and Mike Smith finished with 20 points and five rebounds. Charles Cole added 12 points and James Edmond blocked three shots.
Central Missouri at Northwest Missouri
WBB – #8 UCM 67, NWMSU 62
#8 Central Missouri connected on two more field goals than Northwest Missouri as they held on for a win on the road. UCM outrebounded NWMSU by seven as they moved to 8-1 in the MIAA this season.
The Jennies were led by BreAnna Lewis who had 21 points and Revonnia Howard who had a double-double scoring 12 points and pulling down 17 rebounds. Shelby Winkelmann finished with 13 points and five boards. For the Ariel Easton had 22 points and Annie Mathews finished with 14 points. Ashleigh Nelson finished with 11 points and Monique Stevens had five assists.
MBB – NWMSU 80, UCM 68
Northwest Missouri shot .530 from the field as they picked up a victory at home over Central Missouri. NWMSU also shot .500 from the three-point line as they moved to 8-1 in league play.
For the Bearcats DeShaun Cooper had 16 points, five rebounds and five assists. Dillon Starzl added 15 points while Zach Schneider and Conner Crooker each finished with 14 points. For the Mules Daylen Robinson scored 21 points and added four rebounds. Dillon Deck finished with 14 points and five boards.
Fort Hays State at Northeastern State
WBB – NSU 49, #23 FHSU 48
Northeastern State connected on two free throws with three seconds to play as they upset #23 Fort Hays State at home. NSU held FHSU to just .315 shooting from the field as they moved to 5-4 in league play.
For the RiverHawks Chelsey Beathard scored 16 points and Che’Ron Lewis and Carrington Fox each had six rebounds. Kate Bellamy added 10 points and Fotana Tate dished a game high four assists. For the Tigers Kate Lehman scored 19 points and pulled down seven rebounds. Chelsea Mason finished with 11 points and Katelyn Edwards added nine boards.
MBB – FHSU 79, NSU 65
Fort Hays State used 45 second half points to pick up the win on the road a Northeastern State. FHSU shot .466 from the field as they moved to 6-3 in the MIAA play this season.
For the Tigers Dwayne Brunson had a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Craig Nicholson had 27 points and dished out seven assists while Carson Konrade had 16 points. For the RiverHawks Bryton Hobbs led the way with 28 points and eight assists. Landon DeMasters had 10 points and Marcus Shepard had eight points and eight boards.
Nebraska-Kearney at Central Oklahoma
WBB – UCO 82, UNK 70
Central Oklahoma got 17 points off of turnover as they picked up a win at home over Nebraska-Kearney. UCO held UNK to .354 shooting on the afternoon as they moved to 5-4 in league play.
For the Bronchos Jill Bryan led the way with 16 points and Britney Morgan added 14 points. Whitney Dunn had 13 points and Julia Mason was just shy of a double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds. For the Lopers Laramey Lewis led the way with a double-double scoring 15 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Amarah Williams finished with 17 points and Alexa Hogberg had 12 points on the afternoon.
MBB – UCO 96, UNK 82
Central Oklahoma shot .558 from the field and .500 from the three-point line as they earned a win over Nebraska-Kearney on their home floor. UCO scored 52 points in the second half as they moved to 5-4 in league play.
For the Bronchos Aaron Anderson took the lead scoring 28 points and dishing out six assists. Cal Andrews had 16 points and Jacob Richardson had 15 points while Josh Gibbs finished with 10 points and six assists. For the Lopers Ethan Brozek had a team best 18 points and Davion Peterson finished with 17 points. Mike Dentlinger had 16 points and a team best six assists.
Southwest Baptist at Missouri Western
WBB – MWSU 73, SBU 63
Missouri Western racked up 28 points off of turnover as they picked up a victory over Southwest Baptist at home. MWSU shot .473 from the field as they are now 2-7 in league play.
For the Griffons Quenisha Lockett and Sharniece Lewis led the way with 12 points each. Jallisa Hall had 11 points and Tiara Hall contributed nine points and seven rebounds. For the Bearcats Dilona Johnson had 19 points and Mackenzie Skupa had 15 points on the afternoon. Brook Duncan had 14 points and Jacqui Zelenka finished with 10 points and nine rebounds.
MBB – MWSU 89, SBU 84
Missouri Western scored 52 second half points to erase a halftime deficit and earn a victory at home over Southwest Baptist. MWSU shot .471 from the field and hit 38 free throws as they moved to 3-6 in the MIAA.
For the Griffons Charlie Marquardt was the leading scorer with 23 points on the afternoon. Ryan Devers had 19 points, seven rebounds and five assists while Cortrez Colbert added 16 points. For the Bearcats Desi Barmore led the way with 27 points and six rebounds. Derrick Stewart had 17 points, Menas Stephens had 11 points and Preston Guiot had 10 points.
Pittsburg State at Washburn
WBB – WU 70, PSU 60
Washburn did not hit a three-pointer, but got 26 free throws as they picked up a win at home over Pittsburg State. WU scored 17 points off of turnover as they moved to 5-3 in league play.
For the Ichabods Honor Duball led the way with 15 points and Casyn Buchman had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Kara Lee scored 13 points and Brittney Lynch pulled down 10 rebounds. For the Gorillas Alexa Bordewick scored 21 points on the evening. Cathy Brugman had 16 points and also pulled down six rebounds.
MBB – WU 83, PSU 80
Washburn staved off a last second shot by Pittsburg State to pick up a win at home. WU scored 21 points off of turnovers and hit 11 three-pointers as they moved to 5-3 in league play.
For the Ichabods Alex North led the way with 18 points and seven rebounds. Jeff Reid Korey Fisher and Leon Flowers finished with 14 points each on the evening. For the Gorillas Devon Branch led all scorers with 31 points and also pulled down six rebounds. Ethan Cordray had 14 points and Josiah Gustafson added 10 points in the ballgame.
