Three doublers close out the midweek

Kansas City, Mo. – The mid-week portion of the week ten schedule came to a close in MIAA basketball.

Fort Hays State at Central Oklahoma
WBB – #23 FHSU 64, UCO 38
Fort Hays State held Central Oklahoma to just 15 second half points as they picked up a win on the road. FHSU held UCO to just .234 shooting percentage as they moved to 6-2 in league play and won their fourth straight.

For the Tigers Kate Lehman led the way with a double-double scoring 18 points and pulling down 12 rebounds. Chelsea Mason and Katelyn Edwards each finished with 11 points. For the Bronchos Olivia Mason had eight points and pulled down ten rebounds. Britney Morgan and Julia Mason added seven points each on the night.

MBB – FHSU 101, UCO 97 OT
Fort Hays State tied the game with a three-pointer with 10 seconds left in regulation to force overtime and picked up a win at Central Oklahoma. FHSU outscored UCO 10-6 in the extra period as they moved to 5-3 in the MIAA this season.

For the Tigers Dwayne Brunson led the way with 31 points and nine rebounds. James Fleming had 20 points while Criag Nicholson had 19 points and nine assists. For the Bronchos Josh Gibbs had 25 points and pulled down nine rebounds. Aaron Anderson had 22 points and Seth Heckert had 17 points as both finished with four assists.

Northwest Missouri at Southwest Baptist
WBB – SBU 84, NWMSU 72
Southwest Baptist put up 46 first half points and then held on to pick up a win over Northwest Missouri at home. SBU shot .585 from the field and got 16 points off of turnover as they moved to 2-5 in league play.

For the SBU Bearcats Jacqui Zelenka had 16 points and four rebounds while Brook Duncan added 15 points and four boards. Tanis Spani had 14 points while Mackenzie Skupa finished with 12 points. For the NWMSU Bearcats Annie Mathews was one rebound shy of a double-double with 20 points and nine rebounds. Ariel Eason finished with 19 points and dished out seven assists.

MBB – NWMSU 104, SBU 64
Northwest Missouri racked up 54 points in the first half as they picked up a victory on the road at Southwest Baptist. NWMSU got 21 points off of turnover as they moved to 7-1 in the league.

For the NWMSU Bearcats DeShaun Cooper had 22 points and seven assists and Bryston Williams added 18 points. Zach Schneider had 16 points and pulled down eight rebounds and Conner Crooker had 15 points. For the SBU Bearcats Desi Barmore was the only player in double figures with 11 points. Mena Stephens led the way on the glass pulling down six rebounds.

Nebraska-Kearney at Northeastern State
WBB – NSU 64, UNK 61
Northeastern State trailed by as much as 15 in the game, but came from behind to defeat Nebraska-Kearney at home. Northeastern State pulled down 45 total rebounds as they moved to 4-4 in the MIAA this season.

For the RiverHawks Fontana Tate had 12 points and pulled down six rebounds. Che’Ron Lewis had 10 points and Carrington Fox led the way on the glass with 11 boards. For the Lopers Sydney Seberger had 17 points and Kelsey Fitzgerald pulled down nine boards. Amarah Williams had 11 points and pulled down eight rebounds on the night.

MBB – NSU 90, UNK 85
Northeastern State used 55 points in the second half to pick up a victory over Nebraska-Kearney at home. NSU shot .549 from the field as both teams hit better than half their field goals as the RiverHawks moved to 5-2 in the MIAA.

For the RiverHawks Bryton Hobbs led the way with a double-double scoring 27 points and 10 assists. Dalen Qualls had 18 points while Marcus Sheppard and Curtis Evans each finished with 12 points. For the Lopers Davion Pearson had 20 points while Ethan Bozek had 18 points and pulled down eight rebounds. Connor Beranek had 13 points and Tyler Shields had 10 points and eight boards.
