Springfield, Mo. -- Southwest Baptist jumped out early and battled strong winds to win the MIAA Women's Tennis Championship. SBU swept doubles 3-0 and got key wins at #1 and #3 singles to earn the 5-2 victory.
Fanni Varga and Christina Zentai opened the scoring as they earned at 8-5 win at #1 doubles over Ivana Belejova and Kristina Savchenkov. Adrian Kovacs and Faiga Schmidt earned an 8-3 victory over Jeanne Mallem and Houda Bellamine at #2 doubles. Mehak Singh and Andjela Panovski won 8-3 in #3 doubles over Martina Bruzikova and Barbora Jirickova.
In singles Northeastern State started to answer back as Jeanne Mallem won 6-1, 6-0 over Faiga Schmidt at #5 singles to make it 3-1 overall. At #2 singles Kristina Savchenkov earned a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Mehak Singh to make it 3-2 overall. Fanni Varga then defeated Ivana Belejova 6-4, 6-1 to put SBU within one match of clinching. Shortly following that Christina Zentai earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory in #3 singles to seal the victory.
In the third place match Central Oklahoma defeated Northwest Missouri by a 5-1 tally.

Southwest Baptist earns the MIAA's automatic NCAA Tournament bid and will await their placement in the bracket to be announced Tuesday.
