Kansas City, Mo. – With one game postponed due to weather four other MIAA basketball games on each side took to the floor.
Missouri Western at Central Oklahoma
WBB – UCO 81, MWSU 63
Central Oklahoma held Missouri Western to just 25 points in the first half as the picked up a win at home. UCO shot .509 from the field as they finish the 2013 portion of their campaign with a 2-2 record in league play.
For the Bronchos Olivia Mason finished with 18 points and seven rebounds. Jill Bryan added 17 points, Julia Mason added 13 points and Britney Morgan had 12 points. For the Griffons Sharniece Lewis had 18 points and pulled down five rebouds. Jallis Lewis led the way on the glass with six rebounds.
MBB – UCO 92, MWSU 75
Central Oklahoma scored 49 points in the first half as they picked up a win over Missouri Western at home. Central Oklahoma shot .516 from the field as they moved to 2-2 in MIAA play.
For the Bronchos Phillip Brown had a double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds. Josh Gibbs also had a d double-double scoring 17 points and pulling down 14 rebounds. For the Griffons Adarius Fulton led the way scoring 23 points on the afternoon. Ryan Devers finished with 15 points and Dzenan Mrkaljevic had 10 points.
Missouri Southern at Emporia State
WBB - #3 ESU 77, MSSU 56
#3 Emporia State scored 53 points in the second half as they picked up a win at home over Missouri Southern. ESU scored 15 points off turnovers and got 20 points from their bench as they moved to 3-0 in league play.
For the Lady Hornets Laura Patrick had 21 points and five rebounds and Kionna Kellog added 12 points and seven boards. On the glass Amber Vandiver had 11 rebounds and Merissa Quick and Desiree Wylie each had nine boards. For the Lions Dominique Mosley had 14 points and pulled down four rebounds. Shawnee Phillips and Aleix Fitzpatrick finished with 11 points on the afternoon.
MBB – MSSU 89, ESU 60
Missouri Southern got 33 points from their bench as they picked up a win on the road at Emporia State. MSSU hit 30 free throws of the 32 they took to move to 3-0 in league play.
For the Lions Cameron Cornelius led the way with 22 points and Jordan Talbert added 16 points and seven rebounds. Stephen Atkins had 10 points and Slim Magee pulled down five rebounds. For the Hornets Terrence Moore finished with 27 points on the afternoon. Paul Bunch had a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Central Missouri at Northeastern State
WBB - #8 UCM 84, NSU 73
#8 Central Missouri outpaced Northeastern State by ten in the second half to pick up a win on the road. UCM pulled down 34 rebounds to 28 by NSU as they moved to 3-0 in the MIAA.
For the Jennies Keuna Flax had 22 points and seven rebounds with four assists. BreAnna Lewis had 19 points and Revonnia Howard pulled down 11 rebounds on the afternoon. The RiverHawks were led by Fontana Tate who had 18 points and six rebounds. Chelsey Beathard had 13 points, Carrington Fox added 11 points and Che’Ron Lewis had 10 points.
MBB – NSU 72, UCM 71
In a game that saw 16 total three-pointers Northeastern State took a lead in the second half and held on for a win at home. NSU hit 24 free throws while only allowing UCM five from the stripe to move to 4-0 in league play.
For the RiverHawks Curtis Evans had 17 points and Keon Littleton had 16 points and seven rebounds. Marcus Sheppard had 13 points and seven boards and Bryton Hobbs added 11 points and seven rebounds. For the Mules Dillon Deck led the way with 22 points on the afternoon. Daylen Robinson finished with 13 points and a team best eight rebounds.
Northwest Missouri at Fort Hays State
WBB – FHSU 79, NWMSU 69 2OT
Fort Hays State outscored Northwest Missouri 14-4 in the second overtime as they picked up a victory at home. Fort Hays State got 38 points in the paint and 26 points off of turnover as they moved to 2-1 in league play.
For the Tigers Kate Lehman had a double-double with 21 points and 17 rebounds. Chelsea Mason finished with 21 points and Katelyn Edwards added 10 points. For the Bearcats Shelby Mustain had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Ariel Easton led the team in scoring with 20 points while Ashleigh Nelson added 15 points and Monique Stevens finished with 13 points.
MBB – NWMSU 88, FHSU 74
Northwest Missouri took a 17-point halftime advantage and held on for a win over Fort Hays State on the road. NWMSU hit 13 three-pointers to move to 3-0 in the MIAA this season.
For the Bearcats DeShaun Cooper had 26 points going six of eight from beyond the arc. Grant Cozad scored 14 points and Dillon Starzl finished with 13 points. For the Tigers Dwayne Brunson scored 19 points and had six blocks shots. Craig Nicholson had 17 points and ten assists for a double-double.
