Kansas City, Mo. – Emporia State swept past Southwest Baptist in the first MIAA action of week seven.

WBB - #3 ESU 85, SBU 53
#3 Emporia State scored 46 points in the first half as they picked up a win over Southwest Baptist in their MIAA home opener. The Lady Hornets shot .429 from beyond the three-point line as they moved to 2-0 in league play.

For the Lady Hornets Laura Patrick had 21 points, four assists and two blocked shots. Desiree Wylie had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds while Kionna Kellog also added 11 points. For the Bearcats Brooke Duncan had 14 points and six rebounds and Jacqui Zelenka had 12 points and eight rebounds. Morgan Lucy and Mackenzie Skupa each finished with 12 points on the night.

MBB – ESU 75, SBU 67
Emporia State used a 42-34 halftime lead to hold on for a victory in their MIAA home opener over Southwest Baptist. ESU shot .468 from the field as the moved to 1-1 in league play this season.

For the Hornets Paul Bunch had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Micah Swank added 18 points and Kaleb Wright finished with 16 points on the night. For the Bearcats Rashaad Brown-Peterson led the way with 18 points and five rebounds. Menas Stephen finished with 13 points and Desi Barmore pulled down eight rebounds.
