#2 Washburn vs. #3 Nebraska-Kearney
Second seeded Washburn will face off with third seeded Nebraska-Kearney in the first of two MIAA Volleyball Tournament semi-finals in Warrensburg, Mo.
Washburn got to the semi-final with a 3-0 sweep of Northwest Missouri. For the Ichabods Marissa Cox hit .600 with 13 kills on the night and added three total blocks. Corrine Stringer had eight nine kills Hannah Friedrich led the way with four total blocks. Kelsey Lewis had a team leading 12 digs on the return and Abby Wittman had 36 assists.
On the season for WU Cox, at first team All-MIAA performer, is averaging 3.75 kills per set and hitting .351 for the Year. Her fellow first team performer Wittman is averaging a team best 11.18 assist per set. On the return Kelsey Lewis is averaging 4.49 digs per set and Sarah Vicory 0.89 blocks per set.
Nebraska-Kearney got the semi-finals with a 3-0 sweep of sixth seeded Missouri Western. For the Lopers Katie Sokolowski led the way with 14 kills hitting .429 for the match. Erin Seele had a double-double finishing with 37 digs and a team best 19 digs. MJ Massanet added 18 digs and Liz McGowan had 14 digs on the night.
On the season for UNK Ashley Leitner leads the attack averaging 3.54 kills per set. Massanet, a first team All-MIAA performer, is averaging 2.77 kills per set and 3.99 digs per set. Sokolowski is averaging 2.85 kills per set and hitting 2.85 kills per set and hitting .314 while Bailey Sokolowski is averaging 0.91 blocks per set. Seele, also on the second team, is averaging 11.28 assists per set.
The winner will face the winner of the other semi-final at 7 p.m. on Nov. 23 from the Multipurpose Building on the campus of the University of Central Missouri.
