Kansas City, Mo. -- Second seeded Washburn will face seventh seeded Fort Hays State in the opening round of the MIAA Volleyball Tournament. The two teams face off twice this season with Washburn taking the first meeting 3-0 in Hays. Jessica Fey led the way for the Lady Blues finishing with 12 kills hitting .304 on the evening. For the Tigers Taylor Mares hit .346 with 14 kills. The two teams met in Topeka, Kan. later in the season with WU pulling out a 3-1 victory. For the Lady Blues Marissa Cox had 15 kills and hit .400 while Schwartz added 21 kills for the Tigers. On the season for Washburn Jessica Fey is leading the way hitting .392 and averaging 3.33 kills per set. Abby Wittman is leading the team with an average of 9.34 assists per set and Courtney Churchmen is averaging 3.72 digs per set. For the Tigers Jenna Ulrich is leading the way averaging 2.74 kills per set and hitting .325 on the year. They are led by Kayla Zoglman who is averaging 9.90 assists per set and Makenzie Weinman is averaging 4.51 digs per set. The two teams will face off at 7 p.m. on Nov. 13 from Lee Arena in Topeka, Kan.
