Tyler Wilson Named MIAA Supervisor of Tennis Officials

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association has announced the hiring of Tyler Wilson as its new Supervisor of Tennis Officials.
 
Tyler Wilson brings a unique combination of assets into the role of the MIAA’s Supervisor of Tennis Officials for both men’s and women’s tennis seasons. A former NCAA tennis student-athlete, Wilson has years of experience as a United States Tennis Association (USTA) and International Tennis Association (ITA) certified official.
 
The MIAA currently sponsors 19 NCAA Division II tennis programs — 11 men’s teams and eight women’s. The men’s programs competing in the MIAA are made up of seven MIAA institutions, four teams out of the Great American Conference (GAC), and one team from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC).
 
Along with being a USTA and ITA certified official, Wilson also holds USTA certifications as Referee, Chair Umpire and Line Official. He’s served as the referee for the USTA Missouri Valley Sectional Over Mixed Doubles Championships, the USTA Adult League Tri-Level Championships, and numerous other USTA and ITA events. He’s also served as the assistant referee for the Oklahoma Boys and Girls State High School Championships.
 
Off the court, Wilson has had an accomplished career in law. He’s currently a Senior Associate Attorney with the Newark Law Firm, responsible for handling and overseeing settlement negotiations as well as reviewing, drafting, and handling all court pleadings and making court appearances in Alaska, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
 
Wilson’s educational background includes a Juris Doctorate from the University of Oklahoma College of Law and a master’s in public health in Healthcare Administration and Policy from the University of Oklahoma College of Public Health. Prior to his legal studies, Wilson earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Political Science from the University of the Ozarks, where he was a four-year starter for the university’s NCAA Division III men’s tennis team.
 
Dedicated to his alma mater, Wilson has been an active member of the University of the Ozarks Alumni Board since 2012 and currently holds the position of Board of Directors Treasurer.
