The top ten teams from the regular season are in Edmond, Okla., this week for the Association’s postseason baseball championship tournament, hosted May 6-9 at the University of Central Oklahoma’s Wendell Simmons Field. Among all the NCAA Division II baseball student-athletes competing in the championship, Northwest Missouri’s Jayme Fritts was selected as the championship’s “A Game” Scholar-Athlete for his performances on and off the field.

Established by the MIAA in 2022, “A Game” Scholar-Athlete Award presented by Athletic Solutions acknowledges the overall excellence of a student-athlete by recognizing one individual who has contributed to their team’s success while also achieving the highest academic standard among peers. Fritts is a senior from Glenwood, Iowa, on the Bearcats’ baseball team. He owns a perfect 4.0 grade point average as an agricultural marketing major with 93 credits completed at the university.

Fritts and the Bearcats enter the 2026 MIAA Baseball Championship as the No. 4 seed after finishing 25-11 against conference opponents in the regular season. Fritts has made 11 appearances this season with 13.1 innings pitched. He is 1-0 on the year with one save. He’s registered 12 strikeouts and owns a 5.40 ERA, a 1.35 WHIP, and has an opposing batting average of .265.
