KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced the seeds and pairings for its annual postseason baseball tournament. The top ten teams from the regular season advanced to the 2026 MIAA Baseball Championship, hosted May 6-9 at the University of Central Oklahoma’s
Wendell Simmons Field.
The 2026 regular season concluded on Saturday, May 2, with Pittsburg State claiming the outright MIAA regular season championship for the program’s first-ever regular season title and No. 1 seed in the postseason tournament. The Gorillas finished the regular season 27-8 against MIAA opponents and 40-8 overall, marking the second 40-win season in Gorillas baseball history.
Rogers State earned the No. 2 seed with an MIAA record of 26-10 (38-12 overall). It’s the Hillcats’ highest seed in the postseason tournament since joining the league in 2020. Both Pitt State and Rogers State will open the 2026 championship in the MIAA quarterfinals on Thursday, May 7, against the opening round winners.
Missouri Southern also ended the regular season with a league record of 26-10 (33-16 overall) and will be the No. 3 seed in the postseason tournament. Rogers State earned the higher seed over Southern after the Hillcats claimed their MIAA series against the Lions 2-1. Missouri Southern will face No. 6 seed Emporia State (35-15, 22-14 MIAA) in Thursday’s quarterfinals. No. 4 seed Northwest Missouri (35-15, 25-11 MIAA) and No. 5 seed Central Missouri (34-14, 24-12 MIAA) will open the championship’s quarterfinal action at 10 a.m. on Thursday.
Wednesday’s opening round matchups will feature No. 7 seed Missouri Western (26-23, 19-17 MIAA) taking on No. 10 seed Fort Hays State (17-33, 12-24 MIAA), and No. 8 seed Washburn (21-29, 17-19 MIAA) against No. 9 seed Central Oklahoma (27-23, 17-19 MIAA). The Ichabods earned the higher seed over the Bronchos thanks to Washburn's 2-1 victory in their MIAA series.
