2025-26 Men's Golf Postseason Awards and All-MIAA Teams Announced

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced its major postseason award winners and All-MIAA Team for the 2025-26 men’s golf season. Fifteen NCAA Division II student-athletes from eight different MIAA institutions earned postseason honors, highlighted by the Association’s three major postseason award winners.

Central Oklahoma’s Nicholas Canales was honored as this season’s MIAA Golfer of the Year and Washburn’s Jacob Fratzel was named the league’s Freshman of the Year. Central Oklahoma Head Coach Derrick Thompson was selected as the MIAA Coach of the Year by his peers.
 
The University of Central Oklahoma men’s golf program was crowned back-to-back MIAA regular season and MIAA tournament champions in the 2025-26 season. The Bronchos swept all four of the Association’s designated events to easily claim the regular season title. Central Oklahoma concluded its regular season action by claiming the program’s fifth tournament title at the 2026 MIAA Men’s Golf Championship with a 21-stroke lead.
 
The Bronchos led the league with five All-MIAA selections while Central Missouri, Northeastern State and Washburn had two All-MIAA recipients each. Arkansas-Fort Smith, Fort Hays State, Missouri Western and Pittsburg State each had one All-MIAA golfer.

MIAA Golfer of the Year Nicholas Canales leads all MIAA golfers with a season average of 70.6. He also ranks second in the Central Region and 29th among all NCAA Division II golfers. He placed in the top ten individually in 10 of the 11 events he's competed in this season, including five top-three finishes and one individual win. 

Washburn's Jacob Fratzel, the MIAA Freshman of the Year, is the highest-ranking freshman among MIAA golfers, ranking eighth in the MIAA and 12th in the Central Region. In 10 events played this season, he owns a scoring average of 72.1 and placed in the top 10 at six different events this season. 

All 15 All-MIAA golfers from the 2026 men’s golf season are listed below.
 
The 2026 NCAA Division II Central/Midwest Regional Championship is scheduled for May 7-9 in Big Rapids, Michigan. The full field advancing to the regional championship will be announced on April 26 at 4 p.m. Central Time on NCAA.com.
