KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The semifinal round of the 2026 MIAA Women’s Basketball Championship is set with No. 1 seed Central Missouri, No. 3 seed Washburn, No. 4 seed Missouri Southern and No. 7 seed Missouri Southern still in the fight for the league’s tournament title and the automatic qualifier into the NCAA postseason.

Only four teams remain in the Association’s 10-team postseason women’s basketball championship, hosted March 4-8 in Kansas City’s historic Municipal Auditorium.

The top-seeded Jennies were the first to secure a spot in the MIAA semifinals with a 79-50 win over No. 9 seed Emporia State on Thursday, March 5. After surviving the championship’s opening round on Wednesday, March 4, No. 7 seed Missouri Western earned its second win of the tournament with a 77-68 upset victory over the No. 2 seed Fort Hays State to be the second team locked in for the semifinal round.

The MIAA quarterfinals resumed on Friday, March 6, with No. 4 seed Missouri Southern defeating No. 5 seed Northwest Missouri 67-58, and No. 3 seed Washburn defeating No. 6 seed Pittsburg State 60-49.

Central Missouri and Missouri Southern will be the first semifinal showdown at 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 7. The Jennies met the Lions once in the 2025-26 regular season, which resulted in a 73-64 win for the Jens at home.

Washburn and Missouri Western are scheduled for a 2:15 p.m. tip-off on Saturday.  The Ichabods and Griffons battled each other twice in the regular season and split, with Western winning the first meeting 75-67 and Washburn taking the second game 71-55.
