KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Only four teams remain in the 2026 MIAA Men’s Basketball Championship with No. 1 seed Washburn, No. 3 seed Rogers State, No. 4 seed Missouri Western and No. 7 seed Missouri Southern still in the fight for the league’s tournament title and the automatic qualifier into the NCAA postseason.
 
The top-ten men’s teams from the regular season advanced to the Association’s postseason tournament, hosted March 4-8 in Kansas City’s historic Municipal Auditorium.
 
The top-seeded Ichabods were the first to secure a spot in the MIAA semifinals with a dominant, 91-52 win over No. 9 seed Central Oklahoma on Thursday, March 5. After surviving the championship’s opening round on Wednesday, March 4, No. 7 seed Missouri Southern earned its second win of the tournament with a 70-67 upset victory over the No. 2 seed Central Missouri to be the second team locked in for the semifinal round.
 
The MIAA quarterfinals resumed on Friday, March 6, with No. 4 seed Missouri Western defeating No. 5 seed Arkansas-Fort Smith 73-72 in the final seconds of the game. No. 3 Rogers State then defeated No. 6 seed Fort Hays State 70-63 in another close quarterfinal contest.
 
Washburn and Missouri Western will be the first semifinal showdown at 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 7. The Ichabods and Griffons met twice in the 2025-26 regular season. Washburn won both of those meetings, taking the first game 87-75 in St. Joseph and the second 90-78 in Topeka.
 
Rogers State and Missouri Southern are scheduled for an 8:15 p.m. tip-off on Saturday.  The Hillcats and Lions battled each other twice in the regular season and split, with Southern winning the first meeting 84-77 and Rogers taking the second game 68-55.
