KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Of the six NCAA Division II wrestling teams competing in the MIAA, the University of Nebraska Kearney’s
Crew Howard was selected as the Athletic Solutions “A Game” Scholar-Athlete. It’s the third consecutive season Howard has earned the honor, making him the first-ever three-time recipient of the “A Game” Scholar-Athlete award.
Established by the MIAA in 2022, “A Game” Scholar-Athlete Award presented by
Athletic Solutions acknowledges the overall excellence of a student-athlete by recognizing one individual who has contributed to their team’s success while also achieving the highest academic standard among peers. The student-athlete honored with the “A Game” Scholar-Athlete Award must be an active member of a qualifying team and must have a minimum of two terms completed at the institution.
Howard is a redshirt senior from Clarinda, Iowa, on the No. 2-ranked Lopers wrestling team. He recently graduated with his bachelor’s degree in business administration and is now pursuing his master’s in business administration at Nebraska Kearney. Howard continues to rank No. 1 in Division II at 285 pounds. He currently owns a record of 17-2 in the 2025-26 season.
Howard is the only Loper wrestler to earn the “A Game” Scholar-Athlete honor and the eighth UNK student-athlete to claim the award overall. The MIAA will present Howard with the Athletic Solutions “A Game” Scholar-Athlete award before the No. 2 Lopers’ MIAA dual against the top-ranked Central Oklahoma Bronchos.
