2025-26 All-MIAA Wrestling Teams and Postseason Awards Announced

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced its major postseason award winners and All-MIAA teams from the 2025-26 wrestling season. Twenty-one student-athletes received postseason honors, highlighted by Central Oklahoma sweeping the leauge's three major postseason honors. 

The Bronchos won their sixth consecutive MIAA title after ending the regular season 5-0 against league opponents and 16-1 overall, with the team’s 15th consecutive win stretching their school-record home winning streak to 33 in a row. Central Oklahoma received seven All-MIAA selections and swept the league’s major postseason awards with Gabe Johnson named the Wrestler of the Year, Cole Mayfield selected as the Freshman of the Year and Bronchos Head Coach Todd Steidley voted the Coach of the Year by his peers.
 
The 2025-26 Wrestler of the Year, Gabe Johnson, is undefeated at 157 pounds with a record of 15-0 this season. A redshirt senior from Choctaw, Okla., Johnson is a two-time national champion and ranks No. 1 in Division II. MIAA Freshman of the Year Cole Mayfield is a first year from Sallisaw, Okla., on the Bronchos wrestling team. He ended the regular season 21-6 overall while wrestling at 149 and 157 pounds. MIAA Coach of the Year Tood Steidley is in his 10th season leading the Bronchos wrestling squad. The now five-time MIAA Coach of the Year led Central Oklahoma to its sixth straight MIAA championship and seventh overall since joining the league in 2012. Steidley and his Bronchos enter the 2026 postseason ranked No. 2 overall in Division II, with eight individuals also ranking within the top 12 of their weight class.
 
The Bronchos had four First Team and three second team All-MIAA wrestlers. Nebraska Kearney led the league with nine All-MIAA honorees, three First Team and six Second Team. Central Missouri collected the remaining four All-MIAA honors with three First Team selections and one Second Team. In total, fifteen of the twenty All-MIAA wrestlers are currently ranked within the top 12 of their weight class.  
 
The complete 2025-26 All-MIAA Wrestling Teams are listed below. First Team selections are the league’s dual meet champions in each weight class; the Second Team selections are the dual meet runners-up.
 
MIAA teams will next compete in NCAA Division II Super Region Championships hosted this Saturday and Sunday (Feb, 28 - March 1). Nebraska Kearney and Fort Hays State will head to Golden, Colo., for the Super Region VI Championship, hosted by Colorado School of Mines on Saturday. Central Oklahoma will host Central Missouri, Newman, Ouachita, and seven other Division II teams in the Super Region IV Championship this Sunday in Edmond, Okla.
 
The top three finishers in each of the 10 weight classes from all six Super Region Championships will qualify for the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships, hosted March 13-14 in Sioux Falls, S.D.
