New MIAA Volleyball Athletes of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association has announced new volleyball athletes of the week for week six of the 2026 season. Fort Hays State collected two of the three weekly honors with Ella Goodwin named the Offensive Athlete of the Week and Annie Eaton picking up her second Setter of the Week award. Missouri Western’s Anna Weberg was named the Defensive Athlete of the Week for the second straight week.  

 OFFENSIVE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:  Ella Goodwin, Fort Hays State  
Ella Goodwin led Fort Hays State to an undefeated week with three straight sweeps of Kansas Wesleyan, Arkansas-Fort Smith and Northeastern State. The junior ride-side hitter averaged an MIAA-leading 4.00 kills per set and posted a league-best attack percentage of .478 across a trio of sweeps last week at home, while adding 10 digs and three blocks defensively. Goodwin tallied 36 kills across nine sets while recording just four errors on 67 total attempts. She reached double figures in kills in all three contests, totaling 15 on a .560 swing rate against Kansas Wesleyan before adding 10 without any errors against Northeastern State (.625 attack pct).
 
 DEFENSIVE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:  Anna Weberg, Missouri Western     
Anna Weberg anchored the Griffon defense during a 2-0 MIAA road weekend, recording 42 total digs across eight sets for an average of 5.25 digs per set on the week. The senior libero posted 21 digs in the 3-1 victory at (RV) Central Missouri and followed with another 21 digs in the 3-1 win at Missouri Southern. She also finished the weekend with nine assists and posted a .960 reception percentage across 25 reception attempts. The two victories improved MoWest to 15-1 overall and 5-0 in MIAA play, extended the Griffons’ winning streak to eight matches and marked the best start in program history.

 SETTER OF THE WEEK:  Annie Eaton, Fort Hays State     
Annie Eaton has been named the back-to-back MIAA Setter of the Week after helping the Tigers to a trio of sweeps last week at home. Eaton averaged an MIAA-leading 11.2 assists per set and 4.0 digs per set while adding seven service aces, five blocks and five kills across nine matches. The sophomore setter tallied more than 30 assists in all three contests, totaling 34 against Kansas Wesleyan, 35 against Arkansas-Fort Smith and 32 against Northeastern State. Eaton added 16 digs, three blocks and three kills against the Lions while totaling five aces against the Coyotes. She now leads the conference in both aces (29) and total assists (637) while helping FHSU lead all Division II in team assists and kills.

OTHER NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
Crystal Smith, Pittsburg State     
Crystal Smith averaged an impressive 4.50 points, 3.75 kills and 1.38 blocks per set last week as the Gorillas faced back-to-back ranked opponents, No. 17 Emporia State and No. 14 Washburn. In the five-set loss to the Ichabods, Smith finished with 20 kills on .455 hitting with nine total blocks to reach 100 total blocks for the season, becoming the 17th Gorilla since 1990 to accumulate 100 or more total blocks in a season. Smith currently ranks first in the MIAA and NCAA Division II this season for blocks and blocks per set (1.64). In MIAA action, the nearest competitor for blocks and blocks per set is 79 and 1.41.
 
Grace Gardner, Missouri Southern      
Despite suffering back-to-back losses, Missouri Southern’s Grace Gardner turned in one of the strongest offensive weekends in the MIAA last week, totaling 31 kills across eight sets while hitting an outstanding .377 for the week. Gardner committed just two attack errors on 77 attempts and averaged 3.88 kills per set, while also adding 15 digs, six blocks, one service ace and 35.0 total points. The senior outside hitter began the weekend with 11 kills on 32 attacks in the four-set loss to Northwest Missouri, hitting .281 while adding two blocks and six digs. She then produced a dominant performance against No. 8-ranked Missouri Western, recording a match-high and career-best 20 kills while committing zero attack errors on 45 attempts for a remarkable .444 hitting percentage. She added nine digs, four block assists and an ace for 23.0 points.
 
Hayden Meats, Washburn       
Hayden Meats had a career week while leading the No. 14-ranked Ichabods to back-to-back five-set wins against Pittsburg State and No. 17 Emporia State. Meats totaled 32 kills (3.20 per set) during the week while hitting .224 from the outside in a pair of road victories for Washburn. She then registered 16 kills while hitting .240 and scooping 13 digs in a five-set win over the Gorillas. The freshman tallied a pair of double-doubles in the week, also scooping 24 digs (2.40 per set).
 
Ragin Corwin, Central Missouri        
Ragin Corwin helped the Jens to a 1-1 week, highlighted by a four-set victory over the Northwest Missouri Bearcats before falling to No. 8-ranked Missouri Western in four sets, with both matches being played inside the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center in Warrensburg. Ragin collected 47 digs to average an MIAA-leading 6.71 digs per set on the week. The sophomore libero also added four assists in two MIAA matches last week. In the four-set victory over the Bearcats, Corwin had 16 digs and three assists, while following it up with a career-high 31 digs with an assist in the loss to the eighth-ranked Griffons. 
 
Emma Siron, Washburn       
Emma Siron filled into the setter rotation due to injuries and dished out a team-high 55 assists (5.50 per set) on the week while coming a combined three kills away from two triple-doubles. The junior scooped 26 digs (2.60 per set) and slashed 17 kills (1.70 per set) across the weekend, helping the No. 14 Ichabods to a pair of five-set wins over Pittsburg State and No. 17 Emporia State. In the win over the Gorillas, Siron dished out 31 assists with 16 digs, eight kills and two aces.
