KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced its updated 2026-27 men’s golf standings following the completion of the league’s second designated event. With the team victory in the Newman Fall Invite earlier this week, Central Oklahoma now leads the team standings for the first time this season, while the Bronchos’ Nick Canales continues to lead the individual standings.

All 10 MIAA men’s golf programs were in Andover, Kansas, October 12-13 for the Association’s second designated event of the 2026-27 season, hosted by Newman University at the Terradyne Country Club.

MIAA standings for men’s golf are calculated from points awarded based on team and individual placings at four separate designated events throughout the season. Points are assigned to MIAA teams and individuals based on their finish in each event. The top 15 individuals from the MIAA are awarded points based on their individual placing at the designated events, and golfers must compete as part of their team’s official five-man roster (not as an individual) in the event to earn points towards MIAA standings.

The designated events for the 2026-27 season are Missouri Western's Holiday Inn Express Invitational (September 28-29) and Newman's Fall Invitational (October 12-13) in the fall, and Central Oklahoma's Classic (April 5-6) and the 2027 MIAA Men's Golf Championship (April 19-21) in the spring.

After finishing second in the first designated event of the season, the Bronchos claimed the team title at Newman’s Fall Invite to move into first place in the 2026-27 designated standings, knocking the Central Missouri Mules out of the No. 1 spot. Central Oklahoma posted a team total of 854 (+2), recording consecutive rounds of 289 (+5) before shooting a 276 (-8) in the final round. Washburn finished second in the invitational, 13 strokes behind the Bronchos with an 867 (+15) team total.

Central Oklahoma’s Nick Canales won the individual title at the Holiday Inn Express Invite and tied for third place at the Newman Fall Invite to remain at the top of the 2026-27 individual designated event standings. Canales carded rounds of 74 (+3), 71 (even) and 68 (-3) to finish at par through three rounds (213). He tied for third with Arkansas-Fort Smith’s Chandler Cooke, who now ranks second in the MIAA’s individual standings after also tying for third place in the Holiday Inn Express Invite.

Missouri Western’s Parker Boggins and Pittsburg State’s Austen Mueller tied for first place at the Newman Fall Invite, both carded three-round scores of 212 (-1). Both Boggins and Mueller had top-15 finishes in MoWest’s Holiday Inn Express Invite to now rank third and fourth, respectively, in the individual designated event standings.

The current 2026-27 MIAA men’s golf team and individual standings following the first designated event of the season are below. The next MIAA designated event in the 2026-27 season is the Central Oklahoma Classic, scheduled for April 5-6 at the Territory Golf & Country Club in Duncan, Oklahoma
