HAYS, Kan. – The University of Central Oklahoma softball team won the program’s fourth tournament title at the 2025 MIAA Softball Championship, hosted by Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas. The championship crown also secures the Bronchos spot in the NCAA Division II postseason as the Association’s automatic qualifier.
The top ten teams from the regular season traveled west for the Association’s 2025 postseason softball championship tournament, held April 30 – May 3 at Fort Hays State’s Fleharty Family Field. The regular season champion Central Oklahoma collected three straight victories to also claim the league’s tournament title.
The title is the Bronchos fourth championship crown since joining the league in 2012-13 (2025, 2023, 2019, 2017).
Top-seeded Central Oklahoma faced No. 3 seed Rogers State for the first time in the MIAA championship game. It was all Bronchos from the start as Central Oklahoma put up three runs in the first inning and added two more in the second. Central Oklahoma would go on to score three more runs by the bottom of the fifth inning, ending the championship game early with an 8-0 run-rule win.
The Bronchos offense totaled 10 hits, led by infielders Macie Andrews and Rylee Anglen with three each while Terin Ritz and Ariah Mitchell both finished with a game-high three RBI. Ritz was also dominant in the circle throwing a four-hit shutout with six strikeouts and no walks in five innings against the Hillcats.
Ritz, the back-to-back MIAA Player of the Year, was also unanimously crowned the 2025 MIAA Softball Championship’s Most Outstanding Player.
Eleven players joined Ritz on the championship’s All-Tournament Team. Central Oklahoma and Rogers State each had five All-Tournament Team selections and Missouri Western had two selections.
