Nine MIAA Baseball Players Make NCBWA/D2CCA All-America Teams, 13 Named ABCA/Rawlings All-Central Region

WINGATE, N.C / MARSHALL, Minn. / GREENSBORO, N.C. – Nine MIAA baseball players have been named All-Americans by the National College Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA), announced by the associations on May 21 and May 28, respectively.

Additionally, the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings also released its All-Region baseball teams today that featured 13 MIAA athletes onto the Central Region list. The ABCA /Rawlings will publize its All-America teams on May 30 with only First Team All-Region selections eligible for honors.

Central Oklahoma's Caden Robertson continues to stack individual awards as he was the lone conference athlete to make the NCBWA All-American First Team list. The senior was also chosen second team All-America by the D2CCA and after being the Central Region Player of the Year for both associations along with the ABCA/Rawlings. Also the MIAA's Co-Player of the Year, Robertson tied a season record for UCO with his 23 home runs on the year while leading the Bronchos with 76 RBI and hits, 20 doubles, four triples and 173 total bases while hitting .358.  

A pair of Gorillas ended up on both association's second team with Pittsburg State's first baseman Dagen Brewer and starting pitcher Kolby Dougan earning All-American distinction. Joining them on the NCBWA second team was Jett Buck of Washburn, who was a D2CCA third team pick. 

The other MIAA Co-Player of the Year, Jacob Steele of Central Missouri, landed on both association's third team as fellow Mules also collected accolades. Designated hitter Dayvin Johnson was honored on the D2CCA third team while outfielder Vance Tobol was named honorable mention by the NCBWA.

Another Broncho also earned All-American honors as starting pitcher Dax Sharp was recongized as honorable mention by the NCBWA while Ty Riley of Fort Hays State found himself onto the D2CCA Honorable Mention list.

Regular season MIAA Champions Central Missouri are the sole conference team remaining in the NCAA Division II World Series after besting Pittsburg State in the Super Regional on May 22-23. The Mules will take on Northwood on Friday, May 30, at 5 p.m. CT in Cary, North Carolina in quarterfinal action.
