KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association released its final standings for the 2024-2025 Commissioner’s Cup, presented by Impact Signs. For the fourth consecutive year, Pittsburg State University captured the Association’s all-sports trophy with a league-leading 12.04 points per sport.

The Commissioner’s Cup presented by Impact Signs is the Association’s all-sports trophy awarded to the league’s top-performing institution at the end of each academic year. Points are awarded based on a team’s finish in the MIAA’s regular season competition. The number of points awarded per sport is based on the number of schools sponsoring that sport and each institution’s grand point total is then divided by the athletic programs it sponsors, giving an overall average finish for the school.

"The MIAA has a rich history of nationally ranked programs with the expectation of athletic excellence every year. The Commissioner's Cup is the Association’s highest recognition of the athletics excellence exhibited by programs in MIAA-sponsored championship sports," said MIAA Commissioner Mike Racy. "Congratulations to Pittsburg State University’s student-athletes, coaches, and administrators on winning this year’s Commissioner’s Cup, and thanks again to our Cup sponsor Impact Signs for their continued support of MIAA athletics!”

The 2024-25 MIAA Commissioner’s Cup is the Gorillas’ fourth consecutive all-sports trophy and the University’s fifth overall, passing the University of Central Missouri for the most Commissioner’s Cups in the award’s history.

Pitt State collected six regular season MIAA titles while averaging a league-leading 12.04 points per sport, competing in 14 of the Association’s 19 contributing sports. The Gorillas were once again led by their dominant track and field programs as Pitt State swept the league’s men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor championships. Pitt State’s women’s cross country team and women’s basketball team also won MIAA titles in the 2024-25 academic year while Gorillas football, men’s cross country, men’s basketball, baseball and softball all had runner-up finishes in their regular seasons.

“This is a tremendous honor for Pittsburg State to win the MIAA Commissioner’s Cup for a fourth consecutive year and fifth time overall,” said Jim Johnson, Pittsburg State University’s Vice President for Athletics and Recreation. “Once again, this award is a testament to the hard work our student-athletes, coaches and staff put in to be successful at the conference level and beyond. The MIAA is filled with so many elite programs, student-athletes and coaches across the board in all sports. The Gorillas take a great deal of pride in maintaining this high level of excellence and receiving this fantastic honor once again.”

Washburn University finished second in the 2024-25 MIAA Commissioner’s Cup standings with an average of 10.97 points per sport. The Ichabods collected MIAA regular season titles in women’s soccer, men’s basketball, and men’s and women’s tennis.

The University of Central Oklahoma ranks third in the final standings with 10.0 points per sport while the University of Central Missouri and Northwest Missouri State University followed close behind with 9.91 and 9.83 points per sport, respectfully.

The Bronchos moved up four spots from last year's final Commissioner's Cup standings. Central Oklahoma won MIAA championships in the sports of football, wrestling, softball and men’s golf, and had runner-up finish from the Bronchos' volleyball team. Central Missouri’s baseball program and women’s golf program both earned first place finishes in the league while Mules football and Mules golf earned second place finishes. The Bearcats collected MIAA titles in men’s cross country and women’s tennis and had runner-up finishes by the women's golf team, men's tennis team and the Bearcats' men's and women's indoor track and field teams.
