WEEK TWO: MIAA Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association has announced its weekly women's track and field athlete awards for Week Two of the 2025 outdoor season. Rogers State's Cadence Cordova was named the MIAA Track Athlete of the Week and Missouri Southern's Briar Gillum the MIAA Field Athlete of the Week.  

16395TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Cadence Cordova, Rogers State
Cadence Cordova was flying around the track as she crossed the finish line with a time of 4:36.64 at the John Jacobs Invitational for the third best time in the MIAA this season. As the fastest Division II competitor in the race, Cordova also broke a Rogers State program record by 2.96 seconds – the previous Hillcat record was set two years prior in 2023. The redshirt-junior's previous best in the event was 4:40.96 at the MIAA Outdoor Championship last season.

FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Briar Gillum, Missouri Southern
Briar Gillum collected a pair of gold medals at the Midwest Classic, winning both the women's shot put and discus. Launching a personal best of 15.58 meters (51-1.5 feet), the redshirt-sophomore's mark ranks first in the conference and third in NCAA Division II this season as she's coming off a seventh place finish at outdoor nationals last season. With a throw of 44.38 meters (145-7 feet), Gillum secured first place in discus on Friday. 

NOTABLE TRACK PERFORMANCES:
Aryah Moore, Missouri Southern
Aryah Moore posted a personal best en route to winning the 100 meter hurdles at the Midwest Classic, clocking at 14.37 seconds for the fifth best time in the conference. The freshman finished as the runner-up in the 100 meter hurdles at the Southwest Baptist Invitational on March 29 with a time of 14.50 seconds.

NOTABLE FIELD PERFORMANCES:
Tasia Sadler, Nebraska Kearney
With a conference best height of 1.66 meters (5-5.25 feet), Tasia Sadler won high jump at the Concordia Invitational last Saturday. It's the first gold medal for the young freshman's career and second podium finish in the outdoor season as she placed third with a clearance of 1.61 meters (5-3.25 feet) at the Central Nebraska Challenge in week one. 

Annabeth Baalmann, Fort Hays State
Clearing a height of 4.03 meters (13-2.5 feet) at the ESU Midwest Classic, Annabath Baalmann secured a Division II provisional mark while winning the event for the second straight week. Baalmann currently ranks fourth in Division II and third in the MIAA with her season-best height of 4.15 meters (13-7.35 feet) set at the Central Nebraska Challenge on March 29.
