KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association has announced its final Track and Field Athletes of the Week from the 2025 women’s outdoor season. Pittsburg State swept the league’s final weekly honors with Kayvon Nubine named the Track Athlete of the Week and Kyla Davis named the Field Athlete of the Week.
TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Kayvon Nubine, Pittsburg State
Kayvon Nubine helped Pittsburg State’s 4x100 meter relay team post the fastest time in NCAA Division II this season at the University of Arkansas John McDonnell Invitational last Friday (Apr. 25). Nubine ran the lead-off leg for the relay which won the race with a fast time of 44.65 seconds. The Edmond, Okla., native also picked up an NCAA qualifying mark in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.73. She is currently ranked eighth nationally in that discipline.
FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Kyla Davis, Pittsburg State
Kyla Davis posted the third-best mark in NCAA Division II this season in the pole vault at the University of Arkansas John McDonnell Invitational last Friday (Apr. 25). The Yukon, Okla., native recorded a season-best clearance of 13 feet, 11.5 inches (4.26 meters).
NOTABLE TRACK PERFORMANCES:
Brynn Hirschfeld, Nebraska Kearney
Brynn Hirschfeld ran the second-fastest steeplechase time (10:44.96) in Nebraska Kearney school history last Thursday night (April 24) at the 115th annual Drake Relays. The junior placed ninth overall and now ranks 30th in Division II and third in the MIAA.
NOTABLE FIELD PERFORMANCES:
Annabeth Baalmann, Fort Hays State
Annabeth Baalmann remains undefeated in the pole vault this outdoor season, picking up her fifth victory in as many tries at the 2025 Alex Francis Classic last Friday in Hays. The junior cleared the bar at 13-3.75 (4.06 meters) – more than two feet higher than the second-place finisher. That performance would rank inside the top 10 in Division II this season, however, her school-record clearance of 13-9.25 (4.20 meters) set earlier this month in Texas is still currently tied for fifth in Division II.
Dailynn VanDeren, Missouri Southern
Dailynn Van Deren placed second in the women's shot put with a personal best and NCAA qualifying mark of 50-8 (15.44 meters) – the eighth-best distance in Division II this season. The sophomore also placed third in the women's hammer throw with an NCAA qualifying mark of 181-7 (55.34 meters).
Makenzie Garr, Missouri Western
Makenzie Garr topped the podium in the shot put with a NCAA Division II provisional throw of 47 feet 11.75 inches (14.62 meters) at the Kip Janvrin Open. She also secured two third-place finishes in the discus throw with a distance of 148-8 (45.31 meters) and in the hammer throw with a distance of 156-0 (47.55 meters).
