KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association has announced its first men’s track and field athletes of the week for the 2025 outdoor indoor season.
MIAA track and field teams returned to competition in full force last weekend with multiple MIAA athletes breaking school records and topping the chats of the NCAA Division II performance lists. Pittsburg State swept the first weekly honors of the outdoor season with Dapriest Hogans named the MIAA Track Athlete of the Week and Caleb Calvin named the MIAA Field Athlete of the Week.
TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Dapriest Hogans, Pittsburg State
Dapriest Hogans enjoyed an epic weekend at the ESU Relays with three first-place finishes. The Opelousas, La., native posted the fastest times in NCAA Division II this season while winning both the 100 meters (10.14) and the 200 meters (20.13). Hogans also helped the Gorillas 4x100-meter relay clock the No. 1 ranked time in Division II this season with their winning effort of 39.85 seconds. His 200-meter time of 20.13 also broke the Pitt State record.
FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Caleb Calvin, Pittsburg State
Pittsburg State’s senior javelin thrower Caleb Calvin was named the NCAA Division II Athlete of the Week for men's outdoor track & field by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Monday (Mar. 31) after his best throw at the SBU Bearcat Invitational last Saturday (Mar. 29) put him in elite company. The Carthage, Mo., native launched the javelin to a collegiate-leading 78.71 meters (258-3) – a distance that ranks No. 4 on the NCAA Division II all-time chart. After his first two attempts, Calvin refused to dip under 70 meters (229-7¾), going 78.71 meters (258-3), 76.65 meters (251-5¾), 75.42 meters (247-5¼) and 77.93 meters (255-8). The marks would give Calvin five efforts in the top 20 of NCAA Division II history.
