2024-25 Men's Basketball Postseason Awards & All-MIAA Teams Announced

 KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced its postseason awards and All-MIAA teams for the 2024-25 men’s basketball season. Twenty-nine student-athletes earned All-MIAA honors with three claiming the Association’s major postseason awards.
 
The 2024-25 regular season concluded on Saturday, March 1, with 10 teams advancing to the MIAA Basketball Championships, hosted March 5-9 in Kansas City. All 29 selections are members of qualifying teams and will be honored on court before tip-off of their first postseason contests.
 
Pittsburg State’s Jordan Firson was crowned the league’s 2024-25 MIAA Player of the Year. The 6-0 sophomore from Memphis, Tenn., was the top passer in the league with 175 total assists, averaging 6.3 assists per game in the regular season. He’s also one of the top scorers in the league, averaging 17.3 points per game. He finished the regular season 184-of-376 (48.9 percent) from the field, 31-of-101 (30.7 percent) from the three-point range and 86-of-100 (86 percent) from the free throw line.
 
Washburn’s Jacob Hanna collected two of the league’s major postseason awards, being named the Defensive Player of the Year and the Newcomer of the Year. The 6-3 senior transfer from Illinois Springfield is the reigning Player of the Year in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC). Hanna helped the No. 4-ranked Ichabods capture the 2024-25 MIAA regular season title, averaging 15.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.1 steals per game. He also ranks as one of the league’s top shooters with a .522 field goal percentage on the season (130-of-249).
 
Kyran Tilley of Central Missouri was honored as the league’s Freshman of the Year. The 6-1 first-year guard from Louisville, Ky., was one of two Mules to average double-figure scoring throughout the regular season. He was also the Mules leading passer with 66 assists on the season to average 2.4 assists per game.
 
The Ichabods’ eighth-year head coach Brett Ballard was voted the MIAA Coach of the Year by his peers after leading Washburn to the Association’s 2024-25 regular season title. Ballard and his Ichabods were the top-ranked team in Division II for most of the 2024-25 regular season. Washburn leads the league in scoring (86.9 points per game), shooting (.510 team field goal percentage) and rebounding (38.3 boards per game). The 2024-25 regular season crown is the Ichabods’ first outright MIAA title since the 2003-04 season.
