KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association has announced its second standings update for the 2024-2025 Commissioner’s Cup, presented by Impact. The Pittsburg State University Gorillas now lead the group of 14 NCAA Division II institutions following the completion of the 2024-25 winter sports seasons.
“It has been a great winter sports season for MIAA programs, and we’re not finished yet – three national championship teams and two basketball teams in the NCAA Elite Eight,” said MIAA Commissioner
Mike Racy. “It should be an exciting spring to determine the 2024-25 Impact Signs Commissioner’s Cup winner!”
The MIAA Commissioner’s Cup, presented by
Impact, is the Association’s all-sports award given to the league’s top-performing university in conference-only events at the end of each academic year.
Pittsburg State gained the lead in the 2024-25 standings after capturing three of the MIAA’s five winter sports titles. Washburn jumped three spots to now rank second in the standings, while Northwest Missouri ranks third after leading through the 2024 fall sports seasons.
The Gorillas track and field teams swept the 2025 MIAA Indoor Championships with record-breaking performances. The Pitt State women captured their fourth consecutive indoor crown with the highest team point total in championship history (222). The Pitt men won their fifth straight indoor conference title and broke their own MIAA record of total team points scored (218.5). The Gorillas’ third MIAA crown was thanks to the Pitt State women’s basketball team. Head coach Amanda Davied and her Gorillas captured the program’s first regular season title since the 2016-17 season. Pitt State men’s basketball also contributed to the Gorillas’ winter success tying for second place in the MIAA regular season standings.
Washburn’s winter was highlighted by its top-ranked men’s basketball team. The Ichabods ended the 2024-25 regular season with a league record of 17-2 to easily capture the MIAA title – the program’s first outright conference crown since the 2003-04 season. The Ichabods track and field programs also each collected third-place finishes at the 2025 MIAA Indoor Championships.
The Association’s final winter championship title belonged to Central Oklahoma wrestling. The 2024-25 crown was the Bronchos’ fifth straight conference championship. Despite their newest crown, the Bronchos now rank fifth in the Commissioner's Cup standings after ranking in a tie for third in the first 2024-25 standings release.

The Commissioner’s Cup point system reflects each team’s finish in conference play. The number of points awarded per sport is based on the number of schools that participate in that particular sport. Each institution’s point total is then divided by the athletic programs it sponsors, giving an overall average finish for the school.
