MIAA Volleyball Season Concludes in Regional Semifinals

KEARNEY, Neb. – The 2025 MIAA volleyball season came to an end in the Central Regional Championship Tournament, hosted by the University of Nebraska Kearney, December 4-6 in the Lopers’ Health & Sports Center.
 
Four MIAA volleyball teams advanced to the 2025 NCAA Division II volleyball postseason with the top-seeded Lopers hosting the eight-team Central Region Championship tournament in Kearney, Neb. Central Oklahoma and Missouri Western both lost in the opening round while Nebraska Kearney and Washburn suffered losses in the regional semifinals to conclude the MIAA volleyball season.
 
Nebraska Kearney opened the regional tournament with a five-set win over Oklahoma (22-25, 21-25, 25-12, 25-18, 25-12). The next day, No. 5 St. Cloud State of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) upset the No. 2-ranked Lopers in the Central Region semifinals, 3-1. The Huskies gained an early 2-0 lead in the match, winning the first sets 25-12 and 25-19. Nebraska Kearney took the third set 27-25 before losing the fourth set, 25-19.
 
Missouri Western’s season also came to an end against the No. 5-ranked Huskies. The No. 17 Griffons fell to St. Cloud State 3-1 in Thursday’s regional quarterfinals.
 
No. 7 Washburn upset No. 4 Wayne State in a three-set sweep in the regional quarterfinals to advance to the Central Region semifinals for the second consecutive season. The Ichabods’ postseason run ended with a 3-0 loss to No. 6 Concordia-St. Paul of the NSIC on Friday, December 5. The  No. 11-ranked Bronchos also lost to Concordia-St. Paul, 3-0, in the Central Region quarterfinals.
 
The No. 6-ranked Golden Bears went on to defeat No. 5 St. Cloud State in the Central Region championship match on Saturday, December 6.
 
Three MIAA players were named to the 12-player Central Region All-Tournament Team: Washburn’s Austin Broadie and Nebraska Kearney’s Peyton Neff and Carly Purdy. To view match results and find more information on the 2025 Central Region Championship Tournament, click here.  
 
Concordia-St. Paul will represent the Central Region in the national quarterfinals of the 2025 NCAA Division II Volleyball Championship. The eight remaining teams begin the battle for the national title on December 11 at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D.
