Lopers Crowned 2025 MIAA Volleyball Tournament Champions

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The Nebraska Kearney Lopers swept Washburn in the tournament finale to be crowned champions of the 2025 MIAA Volleyball Championship on Saturday, November 22, in St. Joseph’s Civic Arena.
 
The top-seeded Lopers collected three straight wins in the Association’s postseason volleyball championship to claim the program’s first tournament title since 2019. The 2025 championship match marked the fourth consecutive season Nebraska Kearney battled for the championship crown. The title is the Lopers’ sixth postseason championship overall – the most in tournament history.
 
The St. Joseph Sports Commission hosted the 2025 MIAA Volleyball Championship November 20-22 inside St. Joe’s Civic Arena. Nebraska Kearney downed No. 8 seed Fort Hays State 3-1 in the tournament quarterfinals, swept No. 4 seed Central Oklahoma 3-0 in the semifinals, and capped the championship with a straight-set victory over No. 2 seed Washburn.
 
Nebraska Kearney’s Sydney Davis led the Lopers’ offense in the championship match with 10 kills and a .600 hitting percentage. She also added a team-high four block assists for a match-leading 12 points. MIAA Setter of the Year Peyton Neff recorded a match-high 32 assists and Aleena Peterson collected a match-high 13 digs.

The tournament title awards the Lopers as the league’s automatic qualifier into the NCAA postseason.
