PITTSBURG, Kan. – Pittsburg State women captured their fourth consecutive cross country title at the 2025 MIAA Championships, hosted by Pittsburg State University at the Four Oaks Golf Course. Fort Hays State’s Emily Diercks-McCullough was crowned the championship’s back-to-back individual champion with the second-fastest winning time in championship history.
All 13 MIAA women’s cross country teams were in Pittsburg, Kansas, on Saturday, October 25, for the Association’s 2025 Cross Country Championships. The Gorilla women totaled 55 points to clinch the team title, while the Hillcats of Rogers State were the championship’s close runners-up with 56 team points. Pitt State and Rogers State both had all five of their scoring finishers place within the top 25.
The 2025 title is the Gorillas’ seventh victory in the past eight championships and the program’s 15th overall – the most among any MIAA member.
Emily Diercks-McCullough became the 13th MIAA student-athlete to win a second individual cross country title. The senior from Hoxie, Kan., captured her second consecutive MIAA crown in 20:57.80 – about 17 seconds ahead of the championship’s runner-up. Her time was good for the second-fastest women’s six-kilometer winning time in championship history. She won the 2024 MIAA championship with a winning time of 21:30.90 – the 12th-fastest time in championship history.
Pittsburg State’s Paige Mullen was the 2025 championship’s runner-up, crossing the finish line in 21:13.79. Mullen’s teammate Hannah Gibson placed third in 21:22.99, followed by Rogers State’s Amy Morefield in fourth (21:40.30) and Northwest Missouri’s Olivia Bakker in fifth (21:41.72).
The top ten finishers at the championship earn First Team All-MIAA honors while runners who placed 11-20 receive All-MIAA Honorable Mention honors. The All-MIAA finishers from the 2025 MIAA Women’s Championship are listed below.
