Bison and Ichabods Compete for 2024 MIAA/GAC Championship Title

EDMOND, Okla. – Harding and Washburn will compete for the 2024 MIAA/GAC Tennis Championship title this Friday at Edmond Center Court in Edmond, Okla.
 
Both Harding and Washburn survived their semifinal matches in the MIAA/GAC postseason men’s tennis championship tournament to advance to the title match, scheduled for 9 a.m. on Friday, May 3. The Bison and Ichabods entered the championship as the top seeds out of the North and South Divisions and received first-round byes.
 
Harding downed Southeastern Oklahoma State in the MIAA/GAC semifinals. The Bison swept the doubles sets and took the first three singles sets to end the semifinal contest early.
 
Hardings's men’s tennis program has never won a conference tournament title since joining Division II during the 1997-98 season.
 
Washburn defeated Ouachita 4-1 in the MIAA/GAC semifinals. The Ichabods took an early advantage with three straight doubles victories. Ouachita’s Phil Ener put the Tigers on the board with a win at No. 2 singles before the Bods claimed victories at No. 1 and No. 3-5 singles.
 
Washburn looks to capture its second consecutive MIAA/GAC championship title after winning the program’s first-ever tournament championship last season.
 
The MIAA/GAC championship match is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on Friday, May 1, at Edmond Center Court in Edmond, Okla. MIAA fans can watch the match live, exclusively on the MIAA Network.
