2024 Baseball Postseason Awards, All-MIAA Teams Announced

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced its postseason awards and All-MIAA teams for the 2024 baseball season.
 
Seventy-four baseball players earned All-MIAA honors in the 2024 season. Central Missouri, the 2024 MIAA Regular Season Champion, captured the majority of the Association’s major postseason awards as Brennen van Breusegen was named the Player of the Year, Connor Wolf was selected the Pitcher of the Year and Jack Scott shared the Freshman of the Year honor with Emporia State’s Logan Myers. Mules head coach Kyle Crookes was also voted the Coach of the Year by his peers.
 
Brennen van Breusegen was named the MIAA Player of the Year for the second time in his career. The redshirt senior from Columbia, Ill., had another impressive season in the box and was perfect in the field through the Mules 49 games of the regular season. In 167 at-bats, van Breusegen hit .395 with 666 hits, 57 runs scored and 55 RBI to rank in the league’s top ten in each category. With an MIAA-tying 18 home runs, van Breusegen’s .820 slugging percentage and 1.310 OPS ranks second in the MIAA. In the field, the Mules starting center fielder was responsible for 96 outs, three assists and one double play while owning a flawless 1.000 fielding percentage. van Breusegen was also named the league’s Co-Player of the Year in the 2022 season.
 
The MIAA Pitcher of the Year Connor Wolf is undefeated on the year and leads the league with 10 wins. A junior right-handed pitcher from Tipton, Mo., Wolf made 13 starts in the regular season and tossed the third most innings in the league with 73.0. He owns a 3.82 ERA and a .220 opposing batting average, ranking top five in the MIAA in each category. Wolf has allowed 59 hits, 31 earned runs and 14 walks while striking out 69 batters. His 25 batters struck out looking also ranks third in the MIAA.
 
Jack Scott and Logan Myers were each honored as the MIAA Freshman of the Year. Scott, a first-year right-handed pitcher from Olathe, Kan., is 4-0 on the mound for the Mules this season. He owns a 3.37 ERA with 34.2 innings pitched in 15 appearances. Myers is a first-year from Pittsburg, Kan., on the Hornets baseball team. He started the majority of his 44 starts at second base where he was responsible for 98 assists, 68 putouts and 21 doubles plays with a .988 fielding percentage. At the plate, he’s hitting .301 with 161 at-bats. He collected the second-most hits (53), runs scored (42) and walks (37) for the Hornets in the regular season.
 
Mules head coach Kyle Crookes was voted the MIAA Coach of the Year for the third consecutive season. In his tenth season leading Central Missouri, Crookes led the Mules to their fifth straight MIAA regular season title and the top seed in the MIAA postseason tournament. The Mules led the league in every offensive category: team batting average (.359), slugging percentage (.659), on-base percentage (.456), runs scored (533), hits (602), home runs (110), RBI (488) and stolen bases (159). Central Missouri’s defense also led the league with a .984 team fielding percentage.
