Four MIAA Women's Tennis Teams Advance to NCAA Postseason

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The MIAA teams advanced to the NCAA postseason and tabbed the top four seeds in the Central Region. Top-seeded Nebraska Kearney and No. 2-seeded Washburn will host Central Regional tournaments on their campuses May 10-11.
 
Nebraska Kearney, Washburn, Missouri Western and Northwest Missouri advanced to the 2024 NCAA Division II Women’s Tennis Central Region Championship. The Lopers, Ichabods and Bearcats each earned at-large bids from the NCAA while the Griffons clinched the MIAA’s automatic berth after winning the conference tournament title on May 5.
 
The Central Region consists of teams from the MIAA, Great American Conference (GAC) and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (NSIC). The raining two teams competing in the Central Regional are Augustana and Southeastern Oklahoma State. Both Augustana (NSIC) and Southeastern (GAC) won their conference championships to automatically advance to the NCAA postseason.
 
Nebraska Kearney hosts No. 4 seed Northwest Missouri and No. 5 seed Augustana at Harmon Park in Kearney, Neb. The Bearcats and Vikings will compete in the regional semifinals on Friday, May 10 will the winner advancing to face the top-seeded Lopers on Saturday, May 11.
 
Washburn will host No. 3 seed Missouri Western versus No. 6 seed Southeastern at the Washburn Tennis Complex in Topeka, Kan. The winner of the Topeka semifinal will advance to face the No. 2-seeded Ichabods on Saturday.
 
Washburn and Missouri Western are the depending champions out of the Central Region. The Griffons’ 2023 season ended in the Sweet Sixteen while the Ichabdos advanced to the National Quarterfinals.

The winner from each Central Region tournament site will advance to the NCAA Division II National Championship, beginning May 18 in Orlando, Fla. For more information on the 2024 NCAA Division II Women’s Tennis National Championship, visit NCAA.com.
