KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association has announced its 13th and final MIAA/GAC Men's Tennis Athletes of the Week for the 2024 season, presented by Rocket Alumni Solutions. Washburn's Tim Hammes was named the Athlete of the Week out of the North Division. There was no nominations from the South Division. 

North Division Athlete of the Week – Tim Hammes, Washburn
Tim Hammes went a combined 3-0 to help No. 9-ranked Washburn to a 2-0 week against MIAA foes last week. In the Ichabods 6-1 win at Emporia State, Hammes won in three sets at No. 2 singles against Mostafa Elbasnaly to clinch the match. In the Ichabods 7-0 sweep over the Lopers last week, he teamed with Matthew Earle at No. 1 doubles to take down No. 11-ranked Tom van den Dungen and Aaron Osmond. In singles action, Hammes won in two sets at the No. 1 position over Jip Mens.
 
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Andrea Zamurri – Northwest Missouri (North Division)
Andrea Zamurri paired up with Vini Rodrigues to score a 7-5 win over MIAA/GAC opponent Augustana’s Ahmed Abdelaziz and Jip Mens at No. 2 doubles. Zamurri and Rodrigues are ranked No. 35 in the latest ITA doubles rankings. The senior is currently 20-5 in action singles this spring while he and Rodrigues are 9-1 at No. 2 doubles this spring.
